COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 12 Ohio State women's tennis team closed out its weekend with a 4-0 victory over No. 13 UCLA Sunday in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
The win was No. 225 of head coach Melissa Schaub's coaching career, making her the program's all-time wins leader. Buckeye captain Irina Cantos Siemers is now the program leader in singles wins with 113 after a court one singles win vs. the Bruins.
The Buckeyes improve to 5-1 on the year and have won their last four matches 4-0. Against the Bruins, Ohio State captured the doubles point, with wins from Cantos Siemers and Audrey Spencer and Luciana Perry and Sydni Ratliff. Perry, Cantos Siemers and Shelly Bereznyak each won in straight sets in singles for the team victory.
Quoting head coach Melissa Schaub
"I'm just really happy for this team! It was a team effort today. We competed really hard up and down the lineup and that's what it's about; leaving everything out there on the court and just being gritty and tough in the big moments."
