MADISON, Wis. – The No. 1 Ohio State women's hockey team dropped its final regular season game to No. 2 Wisconsin, 4-2, Saturday night at LaBahn Arena. The Buckeyes finish the regular season 29-3-0 overall and 26-2-0 in WCHA play.

How it Happened
Ohio State held the early lead thanks to two goals in the first period from Kenzie Hauswirth. She scored her first at 8:46 and lit the lamp again with just 16 seconds to play in the opening frame to put the Buckeyes up 2-0 at the first intermission.

Wisconsin went on to tally four unanswered goals in the next two periods, two from Casey O'Brien and two from Laila Edwards, to take the 4-2 win. O'Brien cut the Buckeyes' lead in half at 2:42 in the second period and added her second at 10:07 to tie the game. Edwards scored the game-winning goal at 11:15 in the third and added an empty netter with eight seconds remaining.

Ohio State goaltender Amanda Thiele made 20 saves in the game, including a stop with her toe with under a minute to play in the second period to hold Ohio State's 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Game Notes

Hauswirth's two-goal game is her fourth multi-goal performance of her career. Saturday marked the second time she has scored twice against Wisconsin.
The loss ends Ohio State's winning streak at 16 games. The Buckeyes' last loss was against St. Cloud State on Dec. 1, 2023.
Despite Saturday's result, the Buckeyes won the regular season series against the Badgers, 3-1.
Ohio State's final conference record of 26-2-0, its best conference record in program history.
