MADISON, Wis. – The No. 1 Ohio State women's hockey team earned a 3-1 win over No. 2 Wisconsin Friday night at LaBahn Arena. The Buckeyes (29-2-0, 26-2-0 WCHA) came from behind and scored three unanswered goals on the Badgers (28-5-0, 22-5-0 WCHA) to win game one of the series in Madison, Wis. and take a 3-0 record against Wisconsin this season.

How it Happened
Both teams were scoreless in the first period, but Wisconsin held the momentum at the first intermission. The Badgers outshot the Buckeyes, 19-2, in the opening frame and had a power play at the end of the period that had 58 seconds remaining to start the second period.

Wisconsin scored first with Maddie Wheeler finding the back of the net 1:32 into the second period. But the next 38:28 of the game belonged to the Buckeyes.

Ohio State scored twice in the second period on 14 shots on goal and held the Badgers to just five shots on target in the frame.

The Buckeyes' first goal started with Lauren Bernard winning the puck back inside the Badger zone and dumping it off to Kiara Zanon on the goal line. Zanon took a backhanded shot over the shoulder of Wisconsin goaltender Jane Gervais to tie the game at 15:47.

Makenna Webster, who is in her second season at Ohio State after transferring from Wisconsin, put Ohio State in the lead at 17:39. This time, it was Joy Dunne who forced the Badgers to turnover the puck in their zone. Webster collected the puck inside the blue line and finished bar down on Gervais.

Jenna Buglioni was the lone goal scorer in the third period, finishing the empty net goal with 26 seconds left in the game.

Ohio State netminder Raygan Kirk had 28 saves, including18 in the first period, to help the Buckeyes to the win over the second-ranked Badgers.

- Ohio State allowed a season-high 19 shots on goal in the first period. But the team responded by holding the Badgers to just 10 for the remainder of the game.
- Webster's game-winning goal was her first as a Buckeye at LaBahn Arena. It was her second game-winning goal in three games.
- Kirk's 28 saves are the most she's made in a game since the Buckeyes' season-opener at Colgate. She improved to 16-1-0 with the win.
- Ohio State improves to 17-2-0 against ranked teams this season.
