
Road Trip to No. 4 Michigan State Up Next for the Buckeyes

The Basics
- The Ohio State men's hockey team hits the road for two games at No. 4 Michigan State this weekend. Â
- The teams will meet at 7 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday in East Lansing, Mich.Â

- Ohio State is 11-15-4 on the year (3-15-2 1-0-2 B1G) and Michigan State is 20-7-3 this season (14-4-2 0-1-1 B1G). The Buckeyes swept then-No. 4 Wisconsin last weekend with 3-2 OT and 3-1 wins. The Spartans were off last weekend and posted two wins vs. Michigan Feb. 9-10 in their last outings. Â
- The Buckeyes and Spartans met in Columbus Nov. 3-4, when Michigan State posted a sweep with 6-0 and 6-4 wins. The last four games between the teams were in Columbus. The teams last met in East Lansing Nov. 10-11, 2022, with MSU posting 4-2 and 4-3 victories.Â
- The Buckeyes' sweep of then-No. 4 Wisconsin last weekend was the program's first sweep of a Top 10 team since taking two from No. 7 Minnesota Dec. 8-9, 2017. Â
- The series this weekend marks the final regular season road games for the Buckeyes. The regular season ends next weekend with games vs. Penn State in Value City Arena.Â
- This season, 22 of 23 Buckeye skaters have gotten on the scoresheet, including 20 goal scorers.
-  Stephen Halliday has a team-best 10 goals, 20 assists and 30 points this season. Scooter Brickey is second with nine goals and 22 points, while Davis Burnside is third withi 21 points and is tied with Theo Wallberg for second with 15 assists each. Halliday, who led the Buckeyes in assists (32) and points (41) as a freshman last season, has hit the 50-assist mark for his Ohio State career.
- Defenseman Scooter Brickey was named a Big Ten Star of the Week for the second time this season and third time in his career after a team-best four assists last weekend vs. Wisconsin. Â
- Ohio State trails the all-time series with Michigan State, 56-96-13 and is 25-14-3 in Big Ten play vs. the Spartans.Â
- In East Lansing, the Spartans have the lead in the series, 50-22-7.Â
- The squads met in Columbus Nov. 3-4, when the Spartans posted 6-0 and 6-4 wins.Â
- Last season, each team posted a sweep on home ice. The last series in East Lansing was Nov. 10-11, 2022, when MSU won 4-2 and 4-3.Â
- Patrick Guzzo leads Ohio State with 13 games played vs. Michigan State, while Matt Cassidy has skated in 11 games vs. MSU and Cam Thiesing, Joe Dunlap and Michael Gildon each have made 10 appearances vs. the Spartans. Dunlap has a team-best five goals against MSU, while Stephen Halliday has five assists (six games played). Dunlap, Guzzo (3g, 3a), Halliday (1g, 5a) and Thiesing (4g, 2a) each have posted six points vs. Michigan State.Â
- Ohio State will close the regular season with two games vs. Penn State in Columbus March 1-2. The Buckeye senior class will be recognized before game two vs. the Nittany Lions.
