
Buckeyes Win at Richmond Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State synchronized (artistic) swimming team continued its tradition of a road trip to Virginia this weekend and picked up a win over Richmond, 63-55, Saturday. The Buckeyes competed in the solo, duet and team categories in the victory.
"This competition is always a great opportunity for our student-athletes to come together as a team, close our circle, and honor Jessica Beck's memory," Ohio State head coach Holly Vargo Brown said. "We are grateful for the University of Richmond's commitment to continuing this tradition, as well as the continued support of the OSU Richmond Alumni Association. It's just an overall special weekend."
In solo, freshman Maddie Romney tallied her first win as a Buckeye, earning a routine score of 124.733.
Teaming up in duet for the first time in competition this season was Gabriella Molano Arango and Romney. They won the category with a score of 119.5625.
The Buckeyes' team routine comprised of Romney, Molano Arango, Victoria Carlson, Rikki Evans and Marian Catahan took first in the category, scoring a 157.4542. Carol Walsh, Venice Shoda, Lilly Ortiz and Angelie Roger swam to a second-place finish with a score of 154.4750.
Ohio State returns home for the North Regional Championship meet on Saturday, Feb. 24. Routine competition is set to start at 2 p.m. from McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
