No. 6 Ohio State Defeats Michigan State, 38-7

Buckeyes close dual meet season with a 15-2 record and a 7-1 record in the Big Ten Conference
COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 6 Ohio State won eight of 10 matches and powered to a 38-7 victory over Michigan State to cap its dual meet season with a 15-2 overall record and a 7-1 mark in the Big Ten Conference.
How it Happened
125-No. 22 Brendan McCrone (OSU) def. Tristan Lujan (MSU) | D, 4-1
After a scoreless first, Lujan scored the first point on a locked hands call midway through the second. McCrone scored on an escape to tie it in the third and send the first match of the evening into overtime. McCrone won it with a three-point takedown with just 10 seconds remaining in OT. McCrone improved to 18-8 on the season.
133-No. 10 Nic Bouzakis (OSU) def. Andy Hampton (MSU) | Fall, 1:58
Two quick takedowns by Bouzakis gave him a 6-1 early lead and he won the match over Hampton by fall, 9-2, with a pin at 1:02 of the first. The fall was Bouzakis' ninth of the season and second consecutive. He improved to 21-7 with the win. Ohio State 's lead increased to 9-0.
141-No. 3 Jesse Mendez (OSU) def. No. 27 Jordan Hamdan (MSU) | TF, 19-2
Mendez, now 22-2 on the season, led, 3-0, after a late takedown in the first. He followed with an escape in the second, another point on a stall call and then a takedown and near fall to increase his lead to 12-0 on his way to a tech fall win and a 14-0 lead for the Buckeyes.
149-No. 11 Dylan D'Emilio (OSU) def. Braden Stauffenberg (MSU) | TF, 19-3
D'Emilio dominated the first period, opening up a 9-2 lead, extended it to 16-3 after the second and went on to defeat Stauffenberg, 19-3, by tech fall in the third. D'Emilio is now 21-8 on the season. The win increased the Buckeyes' team lead to 19-0.
157-No. 20 Chase Saldate (MSU) def. Gavin Brown (OSU) | MD, 9-0
Saldate recorded the first takedown of the meet for the Spartans for a quick, 3-0 lead over Brown. The lead stayed that way until Saldate scored on an escape early in the second. He made a nice recovery to score on a takedown late in the period to lead 8-0 after the second. Soldate secured the riding time point and won by major decision, 9-0, making the team score 19-4, Buckeyes.
165-No. 9 Caleb Fish (MSU) def. Carter Chase (OSU) | D, 6-0
Freshman Carter Chase wrestled in his first Big Ten match of the season against Fish, the highest ranked Spartan at No. 9 nationally. Fish scored the first points of the match with a takedown in the second. Fish added a point on the escape to open the third and then went on to win a hard-fought match by decision, 6-0. This second consecutive win for the Spartans made the score 19-7, Buckeyes.
174-No. 11 Rocco Welsh (OSU) def. DJ Shannon (MSU) | MD, 14-4
Welsh improved to 20-3 on the season with his major decision victory over Shannon. A Welsh takedown midway through the first gave him a 3-0 lead, but Shannon followed with an escape to make it 3-1. Welsh scored on another takedown and led, 6-1, after the first. Welsh scored on an escape to open the third and then scored again for an 8-1 lead entering the third. A Shannon escape made it 8-2, but Welsh followed with a takedown and an 11-2 lead. Another takedown followed and Welsh completed the 14-4 victory and increased Ohio State's lead to 23-7.
184-No. 23 Ryder Rogotzke (OSU) def No. 15 Layne Malczewski (MSU) | F, 3:39
Rogotzke scored a three-point takedown to open the match but Malczewski followed with a reversal and two points of his own. Rogotzke led 5-2, though, at the end of the first, scoring late with his own reversal. Malczewski scored on a two-point reversal from the bottom but Rogotzke responded by pinning him at 1:21 of the second for the 7-4 win by fall. Ohio State's lead increased to 29-7 and Rogotzke improved to 15-6 with his third win over a ranked opponent this year.
197-Seth Shumate (OSU) def. Remy Cotton (MSU) | D, 10-3
Shumate scored on an early takedown and led 3-1 at the end of the first. His escape in the second increased his lead to 4-1 and then he followed that with a takedown and a 7-1 lead. Cotton scored on a couple escapes to close to 7-3. Shumate worked hard for a reversal and a takedown for a 10-3 win by decision and a 32-7 Ohio State lead.
HWT-No. 7 Nick Feldman (OSU) def. Josh Terrill (MSU) | F, 5:29
Feldman scored first on a takedown and Terrill followed with an escape and one point. A nice takedown midway through the first increased Feldman's lead to 6-1. Feldman added his third takedown of the match early in the second, a fourth with a minute to go and his fifth followed as he increased his lead to 17-4 after two. Feldman opened the third with another takedown and then put Terrill on his back for the fall that completed Ohio State's 38-7 win.
