No. 1 Buckeyes Open ITA Indoors with 4-2 win over No. 21 Alabama

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 1 Ohio State lost the doubles point for the second consecutive match but again would show its dominance in singles, beating No. 21 Alabama 4-2 in the opening round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship at Columbia University.
The Buckeyes advance to the quarterfinals to face No. 8 Harvard on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Harvard beat host Columbia 4-2 on Friday evening.
Cannon Kingsley and JJ Tracy won easily on court three 6-2 to post the lone Buckeye doubles win. Alabama got wins on the first two courts and claimed the 1-0 lead.
In singles, sophomore Alexander Bernard got the Buckeyes started with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Zach Foster on court six. Tracy then claimed his second victory of the day with a 6-3, 6-1 win on court three.
Jack Anthrop provided the third point with his 7-5, 6-3 win over Andrii Zimnokh on court four. After The Crimson Tide made it 3-2 with a win on court one, Robert Cash would provide the clinching point with his 7-5, 7-6(3) on court five over Roan Jones.
The Buckeyes are now 10-0 on the season and will be looking for its 12th semifinal appearance at the indoor championship.
