COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four members of the Ohio State women’s soccer team have been named to the United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Team.
Senior Kailyn Dudukovich and sophomore Amanda Schlueter earned first team honors while sophomore Ava Bramblett earned second team honors and senior Sydney Jones third team. This is the second time the program has had four or more All-Region honorees in the same season as the 2017 team had five players earn the award.
Dudukovich was a second team honoree last season and had a career year this year. She led the country with 19 goals, one shy of the program’s single-season record. She also surpassed the program’s career record for goals and points, finishing with 44 career goals and 98 career points. The West Chester, Ohio native had a hat trick in the second game of the season against Milwaukee and then scored a goal in nine of the last 13 matches of the season. Her 39 points this season were also second-most in a single-season in program history. Dudukovich earned unanimous first team All-Big Ten honors this year and finishes her career as a three-time All-Big Ten honoree.
Schlueter also had a record-setting season, tying the program’s single-season record with a Big Ten leading 12 assists. She had a hand in all four goals of the win at Navy, assisting on two and scoring two. She also tied the single-game record with three assists in the 3-0 win over Maryland. Down the stretch, Schlueter played some of her best soccer, registering at least a point in four of her final five matches, including scoring goals in NCAA Tournament wins over James Madison and Auburn. She had an assist as well as the game-winning goal against Auburn.
Bramblett and Jones were anchors for one of the top back lines in the country. The Buckeye defense surrendered more than one goal in a game just three times all season and recorded seven total shutouts. Bramblett scored three goals on the year and had perhaps the team’s most thrilling goal of the year, scoring the game-winner in the final minute of the 2-1 win over Northwestern. Jones had a goal and a pair of assists on the season. She scored in the 4-1 win over Penn State, marking the most goals ever scored by a Big Ten opponent against Penn State. She also had an assist in the NCAA Tournament win over JMU. For Jones, this was her second All-Region award as she garnered first team honors last season.
