COLUMBUS, Ohio – Week in and week out, Buckeyes raise the standard of excellence set at Ohio State, whether that be in competition, in the classroom or in the community. 'Buckeye Spotlight' recognizes Buckeye student-athletes who had noteworthy accomplishments both in contests and beyond the box score.

- Graduate forward Ajae Petty averaged a double-double in the Buckeyes' two wins at the Daytona Beach Classic last week and was named Big Ten Player of the Week and Daytona Beach Classic MVP for her performances. Petty led the team by averaging 20.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, also shooting a team-best 76 percent from the floor.
- In the win against Old Dominion, Petty racked up a season-high 24 points and added 11 rebounds (leading the game in both categories in 26 minutes on the court) for her first double-double as a Buckeye and the 21st of her career. She shot 11-of-13 (.846) from the field and added a pair of steals and a block.
- In the victory over Utah State, Petty again led the game with 17 points and nine rebounds. She was 8-of-12 (.667) from the floor.
- This season, Petty is averaging 11.7 points per game and a team-high 7.7 rebounds per game.
- Bruce Thornton had at least 24 points and nine assists in back-to-back games vs. Green Bay (25p/9a) and Pitt (24p/10a) last week.
- He's one of just four players to have a game of at least 24 points and nine assists this season and the only to do it twice -- and they came in back-to-back games.
- Going back to 1990, he's one of just six Buckeyes to have such a game and the only to do it twice. He joins Jim Jackson (1992), Doug Etzler (1995), Michael Redd (1997), Jamar Butler (2008) and Evan Turnner, who was the last to do it with 24 points and nine assists in an NCAA Tournament win over Georgia Tech in March of 2010.
- Thornton and the Buckeyes open Big Ten play this week with a game at Maryland on Wednesday and then host Rutgers on Saturday at noon.
- Recorded four saves in regulation and overtime against Stanford in NCAA Third Round
- Two penalty-kick saves helped Buckeyes advance, 4-2 on PKs, to NCAA Quarterfinals
- Has 0.47 save percentage in four postseason matches to go with 3-0-1 record
- Enters NCAA Quarterfinals with a 9-0-2 overall record
- No. 1 Ohio State takes on No. 8 Wake Forest at home Saturday (5 p.m.)
