
Ohio State Seals a 42-17 Victory over Tennessee

First Quarter: Ohio State Fires Early on All Cylinders with a 21-0 lead

Tennessee won the toss and deferred, giving Ohio State the ball first. Quarterback Will Howard found Emeka Egbuka for an eight-yard gain. After an incomplete pass, Ohio State moved up 15 yards because of a facemask penalty. Running back Quinshon Judkins gained one yard on a rush and then the offense committed a false start, moving the unit back five yards. On the next play, Howard found TreVeyon Henderson for a 21-yard pass completion. Howard then threw a 37-yard touchdown strike to Jeremiah Smith, giving the Buckeyes a 7-0 lead following a Jayden Fielding extra point.
Tennessee had back-to-back three-yard gains from quarterback Nico Iamaleava and running back Dylan Sampson. The Buckeyes forced a three and out after limiting Iamaleava to a 1-yard rush.
Ohio State kept an upbeat pace going with an 18-yard pass completion from Howard to Smith. Henderson gained four yards on a rush. Howard found Egbuka on a 40-yard pass, setting the offense up at the Tennessee six-yard mark. Judkins gained five on a rush, then scored on a one-yard run to extend Ohio State’s lead to 14-0 following a made extra point from Fielding.
Tennessee’s second offensive possession was limited by the Buckeye defense. JT Tuimoloau stopped DeSean Bishop for a loss of one yard and then sacked Iamaleava for a loss of 12 yards. To end the drive, Jack Sawyer broke up a pass play.
After starting the next possession with an incompletion, Howard found Henderson on a 10-yard catch. Henderson took a handoff but was stopped for a loss of one yard, followed by a 16-yard pass to Egbuka. After Gee Scott Jr. caught a pass for a two-yard loss, Henderson ripped off a 29-yard rushing touchdown to put the Buckeyes up 21-0 following another extra point from Fielding.
Tennessee opened its next drive with a 14-yard gain by Iamaleava. He then threw an incomplete pass intended for Bru McCoy after a Lathan Ransom pass break up and Tuimoloau caused another pass break. Iamaleava responded with a 12-yard rush. Sawyer and Ty Hamilton combined for a sack and a loss of seven yards. Sampson ran for a three-yard gain, but after an incomplete pass from Iamaleava, Tennessee was forced to punt for a third straight drive.
Howard completed a six-yard pass to Judkins, who on the next play ran for an eight-yard gain, to end the first quarter with Ohio State leading Tennessee 21-0.
Second Quarter: Tennessee Finds Rhythm Only Being Down 21-10 Following a Slow Start

Judkins ran for a three-yard gain to begin the second quarter. Howard completed a 10-yard pass to Egbuka and then ran for a six-yard gain up the middle. Howard had a pass tipped at the line of scrimmage which he caught, resulting in a zero-yard gain. Smith caught a 10-yard pass before Henderson and Howard had back-to-back rushes for four and three yards, respectively. Howard found Smith on a 10-yard pass to bring Ohio State into the red zone. Howard’s next pass was intercepted in the back of the endzone by Will Brooks.
On the ensuing possession, the Vols’ Iamaleava began with a four-yard rush, followed by a 21-yard pass to Bru McCoy and a 17-yard completion to Squirrel White. After an incompletion from Iamaleava, Davison Igbinosun intercepted a pass that was wiped out by a roughing the passer penalty, setting Tennessee up with a first and 10. Iamaleava found McCoy for a six-yard reception. Tennessee committed a false start, losing five yards. Iamaleava threw two straight incompletions, leading to a 36-yard field goal from Max Gilbert.
Ohio State had its first three and out of the night following a one-yard rush by Judkins, an eight-yard reception completed between Howard and Henderson, and a one-yard loss off a rush from Egbuka. Joe McGuire had a 46-yard punt, setting Tennessee up at its own 21-yard mark.
Tennessee crafted a 16-play, 79-yard drive, bringing the score to 21-10. Peyton Lewis began the drive with a six-yard gain. Iamaleava then had back-to-back two-yard rushes before he found Braylon Staley for a seven-yard completion. Lewis gained five yards on a rush and Iamaleava then completed an 11-yard pass to McCoy to bring the Volunteers into Ohio State territory at the 47-yard mark. Iamaleava ran for a four-yard gain and then threw a pass that was broken up by Sonny Styles. Aftre a Miles Kitselman five-yard catch, Bishop ran for eight yards followed by a 14-yard completion from Iamaleava. Sawyer recorded his second pass break-up of the night on the next play. Iamaleava ran for a three-yard gain and Bishop ran for two yards up the middle. Iamaleava closed the drive with a two-yard touchdown run for a 21-10 game.
Henderson started the next drive off with a 15-yard rush. Howard completed a seven-yard pass to Scott Jr. followed by a 15-yard pass to Henderson, taking Ohio State to the Tennessee 38-yard mark. Fielding attempted a 56-yard field goal but missed, taking the game into halftime.
Third Quarter: Ohio State Puts a Stop to Tennessee's Offensive Momentum While Scoring Twice Offensively

Tennessee started the second half with the ball and opened with a five-yard rush from Bishop and four-yard run from Iamaleava. DeSean ran on back-to-back plays, gaining one and three yards. Iamaleava had a pass broken up by Igbinosun and Lathan Ransom forced a five-yard loss on a Lewis run, leading to a Tennessee punt. A 31-yard punt from Jackson Ross set Ohio State up at its own 35-yard mark.
Henderson started the drive off with a zero-yard gain. Howard completed back-to-back passes to Scott Jr. and Egbuka for eight and seven yards. Henderson then ran for a two-yard gain, pushing Ohio State into Tennessee territory at the 48-yard line. Howard connected with Smith for a 22-yard touchdown pass, putting the Buckeyes up 28-10 following a good extra point from Fielding.
Iamaleava completed two-yard passes to Dylan Sampson and McCoy to begin the next drive. The quarterback ran on the next two plays for eight and five-yard gains. Iamaleava completed a pass to Mike Matthews for one yard before an incomplete pass that was broken up by Cody Simon. Ross was forced to punt for the Volunteers, with a 39-yard punt putting Ohio State at its own 19-yard line.
Ohio State marched down the field, starting with a five-yard rush from Judkins. Howard ran for 10 yards, then found Will Kacmarek on a seven-yard pass. Henderson ran for a six-yard gain and an 18-yard pass to Carnell Tate moved Ohio State to the Tennessee 24-yard line. Howard targeted Smith in the endzone that resulted in a defensive pass interference penalty, putting Ohio State on the Tennessee four-yard mark. Judkins gained three yards on a rush and then scored on a one-yard carry to put the Buckeyes up 35-10 following a Fielding extra point.
Iamaleava completed a two-yard pass to Lewis, then Lewis ran for eight yards on the next play. To end the quarter, Sawyer created an eight-yard loss sack.
Fourth Quarter: Ohio State Seals a 42-17 Victory over Tennessee

Iamaleave completed a pass to Lewis for four yards and then ran for eight yards to get to the Tennessee 39-yard mark. An incomplete pass turned the ball over on downs.
Ohio State started with a three-yard loss on a rush from Henderson before Howard ran on consecutive plays for 12 and six yards. After an incomplete pass intended for Scott Jr., Henderson found a hole up the middle and scored from 24 yards out, extending Ohio State’s lead to 42-10. Henderson’s two touchdowns place him fourth on the all-time career touchdowns list for Ohio State, surpassing Ezekiel Elliot.
Tennessee was held to another three-and-out with two incomplete passes surrounding a sack for a loss of eight yards. Ross sent away a 38-yard punt, leaving Ohio State to work at its own 45-yard line.
James Peoples ran for a one-yard gain followed by a six-yard pass completion from quarterback Devin Brown to Brandon Innis. Peoples ran it once more, gaining one yard causing Ohio State to punt. Joe McGuire recorded a 37-yard punt, setting Tennessee up at its own 12-yard mark.
Ohio State’s defense forced another three-and-out. Iamaleava completed a four-yard pass to Braylon Staley. He then threw two incompletions forcing a punt which resulted in a fair catch for Ohio State.
Peoples started the next drive with consecutive rushes for one and two-yard gains. Julian Sayin attempted a pass towards Bryson Rodgers, but it wound up being incomplete. McGuire came back on to punt, sending off one for 35 yards. Tennessee was set up at its own 31-yard mark following a fair catch by Boo Carter.
Tennessee started with two rushes by Lewis, one for four yards and the second for 26. Iamaleava completed an eight-yard pass to Chris Brazzell II before Peyton ran again for a three-yard gain. Iamaleava attempted a deep pass for Brazzell II that ended up incomplete. Lewis ripped off a 23-yard gain and then a four-yard gain on the next play to reach Ohio State’s five-yard line. Lewis ran once more for three yards and Iamaleava found the endzone on a two-yard rush. Tennessee trailed Ohio State 42-17 following an extra point from Gilbert.
On the final drive, James Peoples ran for two-, three- and six-yard gains to seal the victory for the Buckeyes.
