Ohio State earned a balanced five-set victory against Michigan on Friday evening.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's volleyball team (11-12, 4-9 B1G) began its road trip with a five-set win (25-20, 21-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-7) against Michigan (16-8, 6-7 B1G) on Friday evening in Ann Arbor.
Ohio State did not trail in the first set and scored the final four points to win the set by a 25-20 margin. Michigan held a narrow lead for the majority of the second set and evened the match with a 25-21 set win. The third set featured 14 ties early but the Buckeyes used runs of 4-0 and 3-0 to earn a 25-20 set win. Ohio State battled back in the fourth set to tie the set at 18 but Michigan would force a fifth set with a 25-21 set win. The Buckeyes used an early 4-0 run in the fifth set to earn a dominant 15-7 set win to cap their victory.
The Buckeyes used a balanced offense and defense with four recording at least 10 kills apiece and three recording at least 10 digs apiece. Reese Wuebker totaled a career-high 10 kills. Olivia Hasbrook was the first in the match to reach 10 digs, doing so near the end of the second set and finishing with 14 digs. Rylee Rader was the first to reach 10 kills and finished with 13 in the match. Mia Tuman recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 53 assists and 17 digs, while Emily Londot's 14th double-double of the season was good for 15 kills and a tie with her career-high 21 digs. Emmi Sellman also reached double-figure kills with a match-leading 18.

Ohio State opened scoring and the set was tied at points four through seven. The Buckeyes strung together five unanswered points to take a 12-7 lead and force a Wolverines timeout. Michigan scored three points out of the timeout and used another 3-0 run to get within one at 14-13. Ohio State held the lead until Michigan used back-to-back points to tie the set at 18, the first tie since it was 7-7. After being tied at 19, OSU scored four of the next five points to take a 23-20 lead and prompt a second UM timeout. Ohio State scored the final four points of the set to earn a 25-20 set win.
Michigan scored first in the second set to take its first lead of the match and led 4-1 before a 3-0 Ohio State run tied the set at four. The Wolverines used a 3-0 run to take an 11-7 lead, prompting a Buckeye timeout, and a second 3-0 run to increase the UM lead to 14-8. Ohio State responded with a 3-0 run of its own but Michigan did the same to lead 17-11 and prompt a second OSU timeout. The Buckeyes trimmed their deficit to three at 18-15 with four of the next five points. The teams traded points and Ohio State could get no closer than three down the stretch as Michigan evened the match with a 25-21 set win.
Sellman scored first in the third set as the teams were tied at the first 10 points of the set. The Buckeyes scored back-to-back points to take a 12-10 lead, but the Wolverines did the same and the set was tied again at points 12 through 15. Ohio State scored the next two points to lead 17-15 and force a Michigan timeout. A second Sellman ace forced a second Wolverine timeout as the Buckeyes held the 22-17 advantage. Michigan scored back-to-back points to close the gap to 23-19 and prompt an OSU timeout. A block from Eloise Brandewie and Wuebker capped a 25-20 set win.

The Wolverines led by as many as six points at 14-8 before the Buckeyes cut their deficit in half with a 3-0 run. UM called timeout leading 14-11. Ohio State used a 3-0 run to tie the set at 18, the first tie since 2-2, and forcing a Michigan timeout. The Buckeyes then called timeout after a 3-0 Wolverines run gave UM a 21-18 lead. Michigan forced a fifth set with a 25-21 set win.
