
Ohio State Posts a 4697 Against Murray State and UTEP

freshman Gabriella Sprague fired a match and personal best aggregate score
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University rifle team finished with a team score of 4697 (Murray State – 4713, UTEP 4685) at the Hugh W. Wylie Range on Saturday. The Buckeyes were led by freshman Gabriella Sprague, who fired a match and personal best aggregate score of 1177.
In smallbore, the team fired a score of 2326. Derek Keiser fired a 584 to lead the team. He was followed by Gabriella Sprague (582), John Hamilton (580), Paige Hollowell (580), and Lillian Warren (578). Andrew Duross led the way for Ohio State's individuals with a 583 which is his best so far as a Buckeye. Nate Wehrlen (568), Eva Horgan (567) and Summer Lytle (554) rounded out individual scoring for Ohio State.
In air rifle, the Buckeyes posted a season-best score of 2371. The team was again led by Sprague, who fired a score of 595. She was followed by a career-best 594 from John Hamilton (594), while Derek Keiser (592), Paige Hollowell (590), and Eva Horgan (587) rounded out team scoring. Lilly Warren and Andrew Duross led Ohio State's individuals with scores of 583 while Summer Lytle (582) and Nate Wehrlen (576) rounded out individual scoring.
Coach Tanoue: "It was great to get back to competition over the weekend after several weeks off. We saw some personal best performances from Gabriella, John, and Andrew, but also had some things to work on moving forward. We have a really good opportunity with 5 matches over the next 3 weeks to perform at the level that we know we are capable of and we look forward to competing at the Citadel next week Sunday."
The Buckeyes will travel to Charleston, South Carolina for a match against the Citadel (women's and Mixed) at the Daniel K. Inouye Marksmanship Center on Sunday, November 10.
