Michigan 13, No. 2 Ohio State 10

Ryan Day, Ohio State head coach
On struggles running the ball…
"I think we struggled to run the ball in this game. We know we've talked about this many times, that we have to run the ball, especially in this game. It was a little windy out and if we want to win the game, we've got to be able to run it and we weren't able to do that and that ultimately, along with turnovers and missed field goals, was the difference in the game."
On moving forward following the loss…
"Just fresh off the game right now, I'm obviously extremely disappointed and angry that we didn't execute well enough. So, I'm not there right now, just fresh off the game. As you know, this is not easy to accept, and I obviously have to take the ownership; I'm the one that ultimately makes the final decisions on things."
On his feelings after the game…
"Everybody wants to win this game in the worst way, and nobody wants to win it more than we do, and it's our number one goal every year. When you don't do that, there's disappointment and frustration. I don't blame anybody for being upset; I'm upset more than anybody. The players are too and the coaches and everybody that goes at it; that's what we know we're getting ourselves into here."
On the passing game…
"We ended up throwing, at the end of the game, 33 times out of 59, so more passes than runs, but you can't just abandon the run. You have to be able to do it; you have to be able to control the ball. It was windy today; we didn't have a ton of time back there in terms of protection, so we tried to be smart about that. Again, we had a good plan in the pass game going in, but ultimately it wasn't good enough to execute it. Those are all things you talk about; make sure you're doing the best you can. The turnovers, the rushing yards, you miss opportunities, like those two field goals, it's going to cost you a game like this. Every yard matters, every point matters, and it didn't get done."

On moving forward after the loss…
"I'm not really sure right now. It's frustrating for all the seniors, all the older guys, so we're just going to have to lick our wounds and regroup, but nothing hurts more than this."
On Michigan scoring in the second half…
"We just could not get the stop when we needed to. We need to be prepared to win games on defense, and we didn't get the stop when we needed to get the stop."
 Will Howard, Ohio State quarterbackÂ
On what he says to rally the guys in the locker room after this loss…
"It's hard right now. I don't know if I have the answer to that right now, but I'm gonna go and get with my family and regroup. I still love this team. I still love this university. And I'm sorry. I'm blessed to have the opportunity to be a Buckeye, and I'm sorry I couldn't get this one done."
Â
On what is next for the Buckeyes…
"I'm sorry to Buckeye Nation, but listen, we still got things ahead of us and we can still run the table and win a national championship. I think at the end of the day, that's what we have to focus on. That's got to keep us going. Because this one hurts like hell. I feel for those guys that came back. I feel for Coach Day. Everything they have poured into this. At the end of the day, we still got stuff in front of us. We'll regroup and go from there tomorrow."Â
Sherrone Moore, Michigan head coach
On defensive play…
"I think our defense played outstanding. We held a high-power offense again, another week, to 10 points. Our guys played great, especially the d-line."
Â
On his first win against Ohio State as a head coach…
"It means everything. But it really is all about the players. We talked about it all week. It's going to start up front and the trenches win the game. It's not really about the scheme, it's not really about technique. It's really about the will, and the will to want to put your man in the backfield or across the line of scrimmage."
Â
On the approach to this game for Michigan…
"It was just like when we were 11-0 because they knew the importance of the week and what it took. We worked 365 [days] for this game and that's how we are going to continue to approach it. We're never going to stop thinking about this game regardless of who we're playing. That's no disrespect to the other opponent but this is the most important game of the year and always will be."
