COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State is moving on as the No. 3-seed Buckeyes defeated No. 6 seed Auburn 2-1 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday in Winston-Salem, N.C.

With the win, Ohio State advances to the third round of the tournament for the fifth time in program history. The Buckeyes will play either host Wake Forest of Colorado on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Senior forward Kailyn Dudukovich scored her 19th goal of the season in the first half and is now the program leader in career points with 98 points.

Sophomore Amanda Schlueter assisted Dudukovich and then scored a goal of her own. Schlueter has now tied the program single-season record with 12 assists.

Goalkeeper Molly Pritchard made five saves in the win.

How it Happened

Ohio State put the pressure on early in the match, but didn’t convert until the 32nd minute. A deflected shot from the Tigers keeper fell to the feet of Schlueter. She found Dudukovich who beat three Auburn defenders to find the back of the net.

With just over a minute to play in the second half, Schleuter found a goal of her own. Goalkeeper Molly Pritchard served a free kick into the Auburn goal box, where Schlueter was able to head it into the net to double the Buckeye lead.

Auburn scored with six minutes remaining in the match but wasn’t able to find the equalizier in the final minutes.

The Buckeyes will play the winner of Wake Forest and Colorado on Sunday, November 24th at 2 p.m. The match will be held at Spry Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C.
