COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State fencing teams competed in the Elite Invitational Sunday at the Tse Center in Philadelphia, facing many of the top teams in the NCAA.

Both the Buckeye men and women were 2-4 on the day. The women defeated North Carolina and Duke, with the men topping the Tar Heels and Columbia. Both squads lost matches to Princeton, Penn and Notre Dame, with the women dropping their match against Columbia and the men falling to the Blue Devils.

The women's foil and epee squads were 3-3 and saber was 1-5. For the men, epee was 3-3, foil 2-4 and saber 1-5

Gloria Klughardt led all women and women's epee with a 12-6 mark. Marie-Frederique Millette was second among the epeeists with seven wins. In women's foil, Alina Lee was 10-7 and Dariia Myroniuk had a 10-8 mark. Natalia Botello was first for women's saber, going 10-4 on the day.

Epeeist Gabriel Feinberg led the men and his squad with a 13-5 ledger, followed by Miles Weiss who was 10-7. Justin Vogler was first for men's foil with an 8-7 ledger and Solin Li had six victories. Samuel Righter paced men's saber with six victories.

The Buckeye men are now 12-5 against all opponents this season, with the women 14-5.

The Elite Invitational closed out the 2024 portion of the Buckeye schedule. The team will be back in action Jan. 18 at the St. John's Duals in Queens, N.Y., followed by a return to Penn for the Philadelphia Invitational Jan. 19. The Northwestern Duals wrap up the regular season Feb. 1-2. Detroit Mercy will host the CCFC Championships Feb. 22-23, with NCAA Midwest Regionals hosted by Denison in Granville, Ohio, March 8. Penn State will host the 2025 NCAA Fencing Championships March 20-23 in University Park, Pa.Â
