
Buckeyes in the Lead After Day One of Virginia Tech Dual Meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men's and women's swimming and diving teams are in the lead after the first day of a dual meet against Virginia Tech. The No. 12 Buckeye men lead the No. 10 Hokies, 87-80, and the No. 12 women lead Virginia Tech, 86-81.

- The 200 free relay team of Katherine Zenick, Teresa Ivan, Erin Little and Erin Bockrath placed second with a time of 1:31.67 to open the meet.
- Sienna Angove (2:00.82), Paige Hall (2:02.32) and Krista Marlin (2:02.94) placed 1-2-3 in the 200 IM.
- Mila Nikanorov and Gwen Woodbury took the top two spots in the 500 free. Nikanorov swam a time of 4:48.62 and Woodbury finished in 4:56.03.
- Ava DeAngelis placed third in the 100 breast, finishing in 1:02.69. Maria Ramos placed fourth with a time of 1:03.13.
- Marlin, Hall and Delia Lloyd placed second, third and fourth, respectively, in the 200 back. Marlin finished in 1:58.10, Hall finished in 1:58.12 and Lloyd finished in 1:59.32.
- Bockrath placed third in the 100 free with a time of 50.18. Little (50.81) placed fourth and Ivan (51.35) placed fourth.
- Paola Pineda Vazquez (356.70), Lena Hentschel (351.75) and Mia Prusiecki (316.95) placed 1-2-3 in the 3-meter dive. All three scores are NCAA Zones qualifiers.
- Jessica Eden won the 200 fly with a time of 2:03.69. Lucy Malys finished second with a time of 2:04.06.
- The Buckeyes closed out the night with a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay. The team of Nyah Funderburke, Ramos, Hall and Bockrath raced to a time of 3:42.59.
- The Buckeyes opened the meet taking second and third place in the 200 free relay. The team of Tomas Navikonis, Matt Klinge, Evan Fentress and Daniel Baltes finished second with a time of 1:19.81. Mario McDonald, Henry Dvorak, Tim Brown and Joseph Roth turned in a time of 1:22.94 to place third.
- In the 200 IM, Tristan Jankovics and Alex Metzler placed second and third, respectively. Jankovics finished in 1:46.77 and Metzler touched the wall at 1:49.51.
- Sam Campbell (2:26.25), TJ Frost (4:28.02) and Jordi Vilchez (4:28.74) finished 1-2-3 in the 500 free.
- Karl Helmuth placed second in the 100 breast, turning in a time of 54.52.
- Martin Perecinsky won the 200 back, touching the wall at 1:45.45. Cornelius Jahn was just behind him, placing second with a time of 1:45.56.
- Navikonis turned in an NCAA B standard time of 43.02 in the 100 free en route to a second-place finish.
- Tyler Read won the 1-meter dive with an NCAA Zones qualifying score of 373.35. Kylie Flory placed third with a score of 344.63, which is also an NCAA Zones qualifying score.
- Jankovics was the winner of the 200 fly, finishing in 1:47.45. Metzler finished second, turning in a time of 1:47.70.
- The final event of the evening was the 400 medley relay. The Buckeyes placed second with the team of Jahn, Helmuth, Klinge and Navikonis finishing in 3:14.14.
- The Buckeyes close out their meet against the Hokies on Saturday, Nov. 2. Events begin at 10:00 a.m.
