Lori Walker-Hock Claims 300 Wins as Buckeye Head Coach

COLUMBUS, Ohio – On a fun Friday evening at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, Ohio State women’s soccer head coach Lori Walker-Hock reached another milestone. The veteran coach recorded her 300th career victory as head coach at Ohio State.
The win came in a 3-0 victory over Maryland on Oct. 4. The Buckeyes scored a pair of goals just 24 seconds apart in the seventh minute. Senior captain Peyton McNamara, who has battled an injury in the early part of the season, recorded her first goal of the year. Kailyn Dudukovich continued her great season as she notched her team-leading 12th goal.
The third goal came in 68th minute and it was the first career goal for freshman Jacinda Bonham. Sophomore standout Amanda Schlueter assisted on all three goals to tying the program’s single-game record.
It was also Pink Night as the program celebrated everyone who has battled or is currently battling cancer. Family members and friends joined members of the team for a ceremony before the game and the Buckeyes donned their pink jerseys.
But it wasn’t a normal game on the sidelines for Walker-Hoch. Just three days prior, she had her appendix removed and wasn’t able to pace the sidelines like she usually does. But she was there, in her pink quarter-zip and was able to celebrate with the rest of the program.
Ironically, her 300th win at Ohio State also came against the opponent, Maryland, that she recorded her 300th career win. Last season, on Sept. 24 in College Park, the Buckeyes scored in the final minute to secure a 1-0 victory which was her 300th as a head coach. She recorded 13 wins in two seasons at Kansas prior to taking over at Ohio State prior to the 1997 season.
Walker-Hock is a three-time Big Ten Coach of the Year and has guided the program to all 17 of its NCAA Tournament appearances. This season, the Buckeyes have started the year 9-1-3 overall, which is one of their best starts in program history. They are ranked in the Top 10 and right in the mix for a Big Ten title with five regular season matches remaining.
