How it Happened
- Riley Brengman scored her first goal of the season to put the Buckeyes ahead at 3:20 into the game. She took a shot from the top of the St. Lawrence zone and sailed it past goaltender Emma-Sofie Nordström.
- St. Lawrence tied the game as its first power play expired at 12:40 with a goal from Taylor Lum.
- The Buckeyes took back the lead off a goal from Kaira Zanon at 16:23. The play started with Grace McCoshen stopping the Saints at the Buckeyes' blue line and sending the puck into the Saints' zone. Zanon picked it up behind the blue line and beat Nordström on the breakaway.
- Joy Dunne added another Buckeye goal soon after, scoring at 17:44 to give the team a 3-1 lead. Josie St. Martin picked up the puck in the neutral zone and skated into the St. Lawrence zone with Dunne. She handed it off to Dunne, who sent a wrister past Nordström.
- St. Lawrence scored twice in the second period – the first at 12:10 from Aly McLeod and second at 15:00 by Sarah Marchand – to tie the game at 3-3 entering the third period.
- Jenna Buglioni recorded the go-ahead goal with 11:38 to play in the final frame. The Buckeyes won an offensive faceoff that went to Brengman at the blueline, and she sent it to Wheeler at the goal line. Wheeler dished it off to Buglioni who sent a shot past Nordström to light the lamp.
- The Saints pulled Nordström with 1:17 to play in the third in an effort to tie the game, but Jocelyn Amos scored on the empty net with 36 seconds remaining to secure the 5-3 win for the Buckeyes.
