- The No. 15 Ohio State men's hockey team hosts Lake Superior State for two games this weekend.Â
- The teams will meet at 7 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday in Value City Arena in Columbus.
- The games will be streamed through B1G+ (subscription required) and live stats will be available through OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
- As part of Youth Weekend, free tickets are available for kids 12 and under through go.osu.edu/24mhyouthweekend.
- The Buckeyes are recognizing active and retired members of the military by celebrating Our Honor Defend Military Appreciation Weekend as well. Veterans and currently serving members of the military can claim complimentary tickets to this weekend's series through VetTix.Â
- Saturday, Script Ohio on Ice will be performed during the first intermission and a free postgame skate will be held (fans must bring their own skates).
Buckeye This and That
- Ohio State enters the series 5-0-1 after sweeping Bowling Green in a home-and-home series last weekend. The Lakers are 1-3-0 and split a series at home vs. Stonehill last time out.
- This weekend marks the first games between Ohio State and Lake Superior State since becoming nonconference foes starting in 2013-14. The squads last met in four CCHA games in 2012-13. Â
- Ohio State moved up in the national polls this week and is now No. 15 in both the USCHO and USA Hockey/The Rink Live rankings.
- The series this weekend marks the Buckeyes' only home games in November. Road series at Michigan State and Lindenwood are up next. After an open weekend, Ohio State will head to Princeton Thanksgiving weekend for two games. The first half ends with two home series, as Ohio State will host Penn State Dec. 5-6 and Notre Dame Dec. 13-14.
- Head coach Steve Rohlik, a Wisconsin alum, hit the 200-career win mark Oct. 19 on the road vs. the Badgers. He is the third Buckeye coach to record 200 or more wins, joining Jerry Welsh (328) and John Markell (280).
- The Buckeyes have scored first in five of six games this season. Wisconsin scored first in the first game of the series, but the Buckeyes prevailed in overtime, 2-1.
- Ohio State ranks third nationally in team defense, allowing 1.33 goals a game. The squad has allowed one goal or less in each of the last four games.Â
- Goalie Kristoffer Eberly, who has started the second game in each of the first three series, stopped all 22 shots he faced for his first career shutout Saturday at Bowling Green. He has a 1.00 goals-against average and .962 save percentage.Â
- Logan Terness has started the series opener in each of the Buckeyes' first three series. He has a 1.59 goals-against average, posting a .942 save percentage.Â
- Defensemen scored four of the Buckeyes' five goals last weekend. Damien Carfagna scored in each game, with Brent Johnson and Aiden Hansen-Bukata both tallying in game one.
- Hansen-Bukata leads the Buckeyes with seven assists and eight points and has at least one helper in all but one game (Oct. 18 at Wisconsin) on the year. Hansen-Bukata is tied for second in assists among all Big Ten skaters and second in points among blueliners.Â
- Carfagna is second in points with seven, posting three goals and four assists. He is first on the squad with 12 shot blocks, followed by Hansen-Bukata with 10. Brent Johnson is third with nine and had a career-high tying five in game one vs. Bowling Green.Â
- Gunnarwolfe Fontaine had an assist in each game vs. Bowling Green to reach the 100-point mark for his collegiate career. He is the fifth current player in the NCAA to hit the century mark. Fontaine has 32 goals and 68 assists in 137 collegiate games.Â
- Chris Able picked up an assist in game two against Bowling Green, the third Buckeye rookie to get a point this season. His classmate James Hong scored the Buckeyes' first goal of the season vs. AIC. Nathan Lewis posted an assist Oct. 19 at Wisconsin for his first collegiate point.
- Patrick Guzzo is tied for 10th among current NCAA players in career games played with 139. Hansen-Bukata is tied for 12th overall and tied for third among defensemen nationally with 138 career games played.
- Hansen-Bukata, who spent four years at RIT, has 86 points, with 10 goals and 76 assists, in his collegiate career, ranking in the Top 5 among current NCAA defensemen in assists and points.
- The Buckeyes posted a power play goal in each game against Bowling Green and are now 2-for-17 on the year. Hansen-Bukata (the first of his career) and Davis Burnside have the Buckeyes' power play goals.
- Ohio State was a founding member of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association in 1971-72 and Lake Superior State joined the next season. The Buckeyes left the following year and skated as an independent in 1973-74 and 1974-75, but rejoined the Lakers in the CCHA in 1975-76 and remained in the league until it disbanded in that form in 2012-13.Â
- The Buckeyes trail the all-time series with Lake Superior State, 60-74-11, but lead in Columbus, 33-28-6.Â
- The teams last met in two series in 2012-13. In Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Nov. 23-24, 2012, the squads split the series, with a 4-1 Buckeye win and 3-2 Laker victory. Ohio State swept a series in Columbus Jan. 25-26, 2013, with 3-2 and 6-1 wins.
- The Buckeyes will play their next three series on the road - at Michigan State Nov. 8-9, at Lindenwood Nov. 15-16 and at Princeton Nov. 29-30.Â
- Ohio State will return home for Big Ten series  vs. Penn State Dec. 5-6 and Notre Dame Dec. 13-14.Â
