COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's volleyball team (7-6, 0-3 B1G) fell to No. 11 Oregon (11-1, 3-0 B1G) in three sets (23-25, 21-25, 14-25) in its Big Ten home opener on Thursday night in the Mental Health Awareness match.
The first set featured 14 ties, but Oregon ultimately captured a 25-23 set win. The Ducks built a 2-0 match lead with a 25-21 win in the second set. Oregon led the third match after a couple early runs and closed the match with a 25-14 decision in the third set.
Emily Londot was the first in the match to reach 10 kills and finished with a match-high 17 kills tonight. Olivia Hasbrook was the first in the match to reach 10 digs and totaled 13 digs, surpassing 200 in her career.
How it Happened
Ohio State opened scoring and the score was tied at every point until Oregon scored back-to-back points to take an 11-9 lead. The Buckeyes used back-to-back kills from Grace Egan to tie the set at 12. The Ducks led by a 15-13 margin at the media timeout. The Buckeyes used a 5-1 run to take a 19-17 lead but surrendered the next three points before calling timeout trailing 20-19. The Ducks extended their lead to 22-19 before a kill from Emmi Sellman ended the Oregon run. Ohio State won a challenge on Oregon's second set point but the Ducks won the set by a 25-23 margin.
Oregon scored first in the second set and used a 4-0 run to take a 9-5 lead. Ohio State battled back to tie the set at 10 on a block from Londot and Eloise Brandewie. The Ducks used an extended 7-2 run to take an 18-13 lead. The Buckeyes trimmed their deficit to two at 20-18 and called timeout trailing 22-18. Oregon ended a 25-21 set win with back-to-back points.
The Ducks scored first in the third set and used early runs of 5-0 and 4-0 to build a 10-2 lead. The Buckeyes scored the next three points but Oregon used a pair of 3-0 runs to extend its lead to 16-7. Ohio State was able to string together a late 4-0 run but fell 25-14 in the set.

Ohio State travels to Indiana on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match on B1G+. The match is the Alzheimer's Awareness match.

- "I think our communication could have been better, talking about what the other side was doing and talking about what we needed to do during the play, talking about what's happening. I think that could have been elevated a little bit and we talked about it and are going to work on making those changes."
- Freshman Emmi Sellman:
- "I think we were serving aggressive. That's something we've been working on in practice a lot so I'm proud to see that translate onto the court."
