UCLA Hands No. 2 Ohio State First Loss of Season, 2-1

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- No. 4Â Ohio State (9-1-2, 4-1-1) faced UCLA (5-3-4, 2-2-2) for the first time as a member of the Big Ten Conference and came away with a 2-1 loss at Willis Annenberg Stadium in Los Angeles Friday. Â

How it Happened
In the opening 45 minutes neither team was able to get on the scoreboard. The Buckeyes had a slight edge in shots at 5-4 and in corners, 3-1. Both teams had a lone shot on net with each keeper recording one save.

Ohio State put the first goal on the board when Ashton Bilow found an open area in the bottom left to beat UCLA keeper Wyatt Nelson for a 1-0 lead in the 51'. It was the first goal of the year for Bilow and his third career score.

With 20 minutes to play, UCLA's Edrey Caceres leveled the match at 1-all with a goal in the 70'. And less than two minutes later, the Bruins got the go-ahead goal when Jose Contell collected a ball off the cross bar and put it past Ohio State's Patrick McLaughlin for the 2-1 lead.

Ohio State is 9-1-1 when scoring first this season and have not been shutout this season.

McLaughlin (4-1-1) got the call in net after Max Trejo had started the two previous matches.
