COLUMBUS, Ohio – Payton Harris of the Ohio State women's gymnastics team was named one of two Big Ten Gymnasts of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Harris shares the title with Michigan's Gabby Wilson after both scoring a 39.450 in the all-around in their respective season debuts.

Harris helped the beam team win the team's first event title of the year against the then-ranked No. 3 Tigers as the squad finished the final rotation of the meet with a 49.050. She scored a 9.825 on the apparatus.

The sophomore led the Buckeyes with a 9.875 on uneven bars and tied for the team lead with the same score on vault. She added another 9.875 on floor.

Harris played a key part in the Buckeyes starting the year with a 196.775, which tied the best season-opening score in program history.

Harris is the first Buckeye to earn the Big Ten's Gymnast of the Week title under head coach Meredith Paulicivic. The Franklin, Wis. native earned the conference's Freshman of the Week award four times last year.

The Buckeyes host their home opener Sunday, Jan. 14 at 2 p.m. with a tri meet against Ball State and Towson at the Covelli Center. The meet will also be streamed on B1G+ (subscription required).
