COLUMBUS, Ohio – Week in and week out, Buckeye student-athletes raise the standard of excellence set at Ohio State, whether that be in competition, in the classroom or in the community. 'Buckeye Spotlight' recognizes student-athletes who had noteworthy accomplishments both in contests and beyond the box score.

- Posted a career high 16 kills vs. No. 9 Penn State in fourth career start
- Also added a career-best nine digs defensively in front of OSU record crowd of 2,238
- Hit a season best .303 on 33 attacks vs. the Nittany Lions
- The Buckeyes open league play at 1 p.m. Sunday at Covelli vs. Lindenwood
Bryce Hepner | Wrestling | R-Jr. | Avon, Ohio
- Down 7-0, rallied to win 12-10 at 165 over Michigan's Beau Mantanona to earn Ohio State three critical team points
- Ohio State trailed Michigan 16-6 before Hepner's win in front of a sellout crowd of 4,759 at Covelli
- Buckeyes rallied to defeat the No. 13 Wolverines 20-19 with Hepner starting a 14-3 Ohio State run in the team standings
- Ohio State travels to face No. 1 Penn State Friday (6:30 p.m./BTN) and No. 14 Rutgers Sunday (1 p.m./B1G+)
Hayden Tobias | Men's Track & Field | Sr. | Fishers, Ind.
- Hayden Tobias broke the shot put meet record at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite at Louisville with a best mark of 19.86m / 65'2" to win the competition and beat the runner-up by nearly two meters. He ranks third in the country in the shot put.
- Tobias also finished sixth in the weight throw (18.38m / 60'3.75").
- Sophomore forward Cotie McMahon had a pair of double-doubles in a pair of road wins last week for the Buckeyes. McMahon averaged 13.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game on the week.
- She nearly recorded a triple-double on Sunday at Purdue as she finished with 10 points, a season-high 12 rebounds and a career-high eight assists. On Thursday at Illinois, McMahon had 17 points and 11 rebounds. She also made a pair of three-pointers and recorded a pair of blocks. McMahon entered the top-25 in program history in career free throws attempted in the game against Purdue despite only being a sophomore.
- This season, McMahon is averaging 13.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game and has three double-doubles in the past three games.
Irina Cantos Siemers | Women's Tennis | Graduate | Brussels, Belgium
- Cantos Siemers, the Buckeyes' captain, led the squad to two victories over the weekend to help Ohio State clinch a spot at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in Seattle.
- Against Notre Dame Friday, No. 15-ranked Cantos Siemers posted a 6-4, 6-0 win in singles. Saturday against Arizona State she downed a ranked player by the same score, with both matches on court one. She also paired with freshman Audrey Spencer to notch a 6-3 doubles victory against the Sun Devils.
- Ohio State claimed both matches, 4-0, to improve to 3-1 this season.
- The No. 13-ranked Buckeyes close out their homestand with two Top 15 matchups this weekend, as they welcome Duke Friday afternoon and UCLA Sunday.
Mallory Gregory | Women's Gymnastics | So. | Clermont, Fla.
- Mallory Gregory made her competitive debut for the Buckeyes in Monday night's meet.
- The sophomore missed her freshman season due to injury and was put in the vault lineup for the Buckeyes' meet against Illinois.
- She scored a 9.875 to help Ohio State win the vault title and go on to win the meet with a score of 197.100.
Kiara Zanon | Women's Hockey | Sr. | Fairport, N.Y.
- Kiara Zanon led the Buckeyes with four points in the series at No. 9/10 St. Cloud State.
- She scored a goal and assisted the game-winning goal in the 3-2 win over the Huskies on Saturday and tallied two helpers in game one to help the Buckeyes sweep St. Cloud on the road and improve to 22-2-0 on the year.
- Zanon and her linemates combined for nine of the Buckeyes' 18 points on the weekend.
- The Buckeyes will play Bemidji State this weekend at the OSU Ice Rink. Game one is Friday at 6 p.m. and game two is Saturday at 3 p.m. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
