Ohio State Wraps Up Strong Weekend at Notre Dame, Turns in 41 NCAA Standard Times

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State swimming and diving teams combined for 41 NCAA Standard times and 11 NCAA Zones qualifying scores at the Tim Welsh Classic this weekend. The No. 6 Buckeye women were the winners of the four-team meet with 1,635 total points, besting second-place Akron by 813 points. The No. 14 men placed second behind No. 12 Notre Dame, 1,721-1,563.
The day opened with the 1000 free, and both the women and men earned wins. Maya Geringer was the winner for the women, with a time of 9:36.55, almost 20 seconds ahead of teammate Mia Rankin, who placed second with a time of 9:54.07. On the men's side, Charlie Clark was the winner, finishing in 8:49.68. Sam Campbell (8:59.40) placed second, Mason Edmund (9:04.58) finished third and Alex Axon (9:16.58) finished fourth.
Amy Fulmer finished second in the 200 back with an NCAA B cut time of 1:54.41.
Katherine Zenick won the 100 free, touching the wall at 48.30, which is an NCAA B standard time. Ruslan Gaziev placed second in the 100 free for the men, turning in an NCAA B cut time of 42.04.
Hannah Bach (2:11.55) and Reese Dehen (2:12.18) finished first and second, respectively, in the 200 breast. Both their times are NCAA B cuts. Billy Regan placed second in the 200 breast for the men; he finished in an NCAA B standard time of 1:57.19.
The Buckeyes took the top four spots in the women's 200 fly. Jessica Eden was the winner, finishing in 1:57.12, which is an NCAA B standard time. Kyra Sommerstad (1:58.53), Paige Hall (1:58.22) and Lucy Malys (1:58.37) finished second, third and fourth, respectively, all recording NCAA B standard times.
Chachi Gustafson swam an NCAA B cut time of 1:44.11 to win the 200 fly on the men's side.
Janie Boyle placed second in the 1-meter dive with an aggregate score of 303.95 and Clayton Chaplin placed second in the 3-meter dive with an overall score of 396.80. Both scores are NCAA Zones qualifying scores.
The women's team closed out the meet with a first-place finish in the 400 free relay. The relay team of Zenick, Tristan Harrison, Teresa Ivan and Fulmer finished in 3:13.80, which is an automatic NCAA qualifying time.
