
Ohio State Falls Short on the Road at Nebraska, 83-69

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Ohio State fell on the road Tuesday night to Nebraska, 83-69 in Lincoln.
The Buckeyes are now 3-5 in the Big Ten and 13-6 overall on the season.

Sophomore Bruce Thornton led the Buckeyes in scoring with 16 points and and assists while graduate Jamison Battle and sophomore Bowen Hardman added 11 points.

Nebraska knocked down 14 three-pointers on the night while Rienk Mast scored a career-high 34 points on 6-of-8 from beyond the arc.

The Buckeyes used a 9-0 run to build an early 22-13 lead. Nebraska answered with an 8-0 run of its own and then closed the half on an 11-3 run to take a 43-35 lead into the break. Thornton had 11 of 16 points in the opening half while Nebraska big man Rienk Mask scored 13 of his 34 in the first 20 minutes.
A pair of threes by Battle and Thornton would open the second half in scoring for the Buckeyes and help cut the lead to just three. The Cornhuskers would continue the three-point barrage however, with Mast hitting three of them en route to a 65-51 lead by the under eight timeout.

The Buckeyes would finish strong, led by the late points by Hardman.Â
The Buckeyes will remain on the road this weekend as they head to Northwestern for an 8:30 p.m. ET tip on Saturday evening. This will be the team's lone meeting of the season.

- Jamison Battle, the Big Ten leader in three-point shooting, finished the night 3-of-4 from long range.
- Evan Mahaffey was 4-of-4 from the floor and also had five rebounds, four assists and zero turnovers.
- Roddy Gayle Jr. had his second consecutive game of five assists and just one turnover.
- Felix Okpara extended his consecutive game streak with a block to 25.Â
