- Ohio State enters the match with a 3-4 record after falling to then No. 6 Oregon on Saturday night to wrap up the Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge. The Buckeyes continue their streak of ranked opponents on Thursday in their fifth-straight ranked match.
- Senior Emily Londot continues to lead Ohio State's offense as she ranks second in the conference and top-10 in the country in both kills/set (4.92) and points/set (5.31). Freshman Mia Tuman leads the Big Ten in assists/set (10.52) as she directs a collegiate offense for the first time.
- No. 6 Texas holds a 4-2 record after sweeping Rice on Monday evening. The Longhorns have also swept Loyola Marymount and FGCU and beat then No. 5 Minnesota in four sets. Texas fell at Long Beach State in four sets in the season opener and was swept by then No. 2 Stanford.
- Madisen Skinner and Jenna Wenaas lead the Texas offense with 3.95 and 3.10 kills/set, respectively. Ella Swindle is averaging 8.75 assists/set, while Emma Halter's 3.40 digs/set leads the back row defense. The Longhorns have five players averaging more than one block/set.
- Ohio State is 1-11 against Texas in the all-time series after the teams played each other three times during the 2022 season. Before last season, it had been 20 years since the teams met.
- The Buckeyes earned their win of the series in the first meeting.
- Last season, Ohio State began and ended the season against Texas, falling in four sets to the eventual NCAA Champions in the regional finals in four sets in Gregory Gymnasium.
- No. 18 Baylor currently holds a 4-3 record and is scheduled to host Washington State on Wednesday evening. The Bears' win record includes sweeps of Pacific and Colorado State and four-set wins against then No. 18 Rice and Bowling Green. Baylor opened the season with losses to then No. 2 Wisconsin (four sets) and then No. 7 Minnesota (sweep) and also fell to SMU.
- Kyndal Stowers leads the Baylor offense with 4.31 kills/set, while Averi Carlson averages 10.58 assists/set. On the defensive side, Lauren Briseno leads four players averaging at least 2.0 digs/set with 2.77 digs/set and Alicia Andrew leads the team in blocking (0.92/set).
- This is the first time in program history that Ohio State and Baylor will meet.
