McGinty Named to ANNIKA Award Watch List

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Caley McGinty has been named to the 2023-24 ANNIKA Award, presented by Stifel, Preseason Watch List, announced by The Haskins Foundation on Monday.
The ANNIKA Award, named after Swedish World Golf Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam, is given annually to the top female collegiate golfer in the United States. The winner is voted on by players, coaches, and members of the media.
This is the second straight season McGinty has been named to the ANNIKA Award's Preseason Watch List. McGinty, a native of Bristol, England, is currently ranked 40th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and was named a Big Ten Player to Watch.
MGinty had a strong 2022-23 season for the Buckeyes, earning First Team All-Big Ten honors and Honorable Mention All-American recognition from the Women's Golf Coaches Association and GolfWeek Magazine. McGinty earned her first individual win as a Buckeye at the Westbrook Invitational; she carded three under-par rounds and finished with a 54-hole score of 207 (-9). She made program history at the Mountain View Collegiate, firing a 63 (-9) in the final round; it is the lowest 18-hole round in Ohio State women's golf history. She placed second overall at the tournament with a 54-hole total of 198 (-18), which is the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history. McGinty shot under par in 14 of her 30 rounds played during the 2022-23 season and had a scoring average of 72.33.
McGinty and the Buckeyes open the 2023-24 season this week, playing in the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational Sept. 11-12.
