47 athletics standouts among summer graduates
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sunday, 47 current and former Ohio State student-athletes will receive degrees at Summer Commencement. The ceremony is set for 2 p.m. in the Schottenstein Center.

• Emily Armstrong was a member of the Canadian artistic swimming team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games. She has helped the Buckeyes to two straight national championships and won the duet title in 2023 and trio, team and A Figures titles in 2022.
• Carlos Aviles is a 2023 USTFCCCA Outdoor All-American, earning a spot on the second team for finishing 14th in the discus competition at the NCAA Championships. He also ranks second in program history in the discus.
• Sophie Jaques became the first Ohio State women's hockey player, and just the second defenseman, to win the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award in 2023. Along with fellow graduates Madison Bizal and Riley Brengman, Jaques helped the Buckeyes to their first national title in 2022 and a second consecutive title game appearance in 2023.
• A 2022 Olympic gold medalist and two-time world champion with Team Canada, Emma Maltais graduates from Ohio State as the women's hockey program's leading point scorer.
• Keagan McLaughlin of the men's soccer team was the Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year and a First Team All-Big Ten selection in 2022. He led the Buckeyes to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and was an Ohio State 2023 Big Ten Medal of Honor finalist.
• Adelaide Aquilla was a 2020 U.S. Olympian in the shot put and the collegiate record holder in the outdoor shot put. The four-time NCAA shot put champion and seven-time All-American also holds the Buckeyes' shot put records and has a plethora of Big Ten titles and Big Ten Athlete of the Year awards. Aquilla was a semifinalist for The Bowerman in 2022 and was named USTFCCCA Outdoor Regional Female Field Athlete of the Year the same season.
• Alyssa Marsh is a four-time All-American in track, with two first team honors, and a three-time Big Ten Champion. She holds the Buckeyes' indoor 400m record and ran a leg on the record-breaking 4x400m relay squad, both indoor and outdoor.
• Jaydan Wood is a four-time track All-American, garnering two first team accolades, and a two-time Big Ten Champion. She ran a leg on the 4x400m relay squad that broke both the indoor and outdoor program records and also ranks in the Top 5 individually in the indoor and outdoor 400m.
• Sade Olatoye is tied for the most individual track and field Big Ten Championships in program history with six, winning four in the shot put and two in the weight throw. Upon the exhaustion of her eligibility, she held four program records and earned a pair of Big Ten Field Athlete of the Year honors. The 2019 Ohio State Female Athlete of the Year now competes for Team Nigeria in an international capacity.
• Wrestler Kaleb Romero, Ohio State's male Big Ten Medal of Honor recipient in 2023, earned All-America honors as a senior after leading the Buckeyes to a fourth-place finish in the 2023 NCAA Championships.
• Rower Jessy Vermeer, a two-time second team all-American for the Buckeyes, helped Ohio State to the NCAA Championships in each of her four seasons while also helping the Buckeyes claim the 2022 Big Ten Championships.
• Fencer Bence Bende was a two-time All-American, including a first team selection as a freshman, while Roscoe Swartz was a three-time NCAA qualifier and a first team All-American in 2020. Swartz also claimed a conference championship and was a three-time first team all-conference selection.
• Sam Hackenbracht is a three-time All-Big Ten and All-Region softball performer who has a career .355 batting average. Last season, she hit .360 in 48 games and finished ranked among the Big Ten leaders in batting average, slugging percentage and runs batted in.
