- The Buckeyes are coming off a 3-0 shutout of Miami (Ohio) in the season-opener on Thursday night. Junior Kailyn Dudukovich scored a pair of goals and assisted on another in the win.
- Buffalo opened the season with a 1-0 setback at Pitt on Thursday night. Katie Krohn had the lone goal in the game for the Bulls.
- Ohio State has won the only previous meeting with Buffalo, a 3-0 victory at home on Aug. 26, 2017. Eleanor Gabriel had a pair of goals in that game while Alyssa Baumbick, sister of current Buckeye Christin Baumbick, scored the third goal.
- With its win over Miami (Ohio) on Thursday, Ohio State is now 28-4-3 all-time against teams currently in the Mid-American Conference. The last loss to a MAC team was 1-0 double-overtime loss at Toledo on Sept. 2, 2014. The lone home loss was a 2-0 setback to Bowling Green way back in 2001.
- Kailyn Dudukovich notched the third multi-goal game of her career in the opener on Thursday. She now has 16 goals in her career.
- Christin Baumbick scorer her third career-goal in the season-opener against Miami.
- Ohio State was able to play every available player in the season-opener, which included seven freshmen.
- The Buckeyes are under the direction of head coach Lori Walker-Hock who is in her 27th season with the program and her 29th overall as a head coach. She has 283 wins at Ohio State and is just four wins away from 300 in her career.
- Peyton McNamara returned late in preseason training as she was helping the Jamaican national team reach the knockout stage of the FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time in the country's history.
- Dudukovich, McNamara and junior defender Sydney Jones were all named Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch this fall.
