COLUMBUS-Ohio -- The 2023 Ohio State Men's Soccer season kicks off at 7 p.m. Tuesday when the Buckeyes take on Oakland in an exhibition at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.Â
Ohio State is coming off an 11-3-6 campaign in 2022 in which the Buckeyes tied for second in the Big Ten and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.Â
Six newcomers, four freshmen and a pair of transfers, were added to the Ohio State roster for the 2023 season. The newcomers join a talented crop of veterans led by All-America senior midfielder Laurence Wootton, a first-team All-Big Ten selection in each of the last three seasons. He also was named the league's Big Ten Midfielder of the Year in 2022.Â
Also back is second-team All-Big Ten selection Anthony Samways and a pair of sophomores (Luciano Pechota and Tanner Creech) who made the league's All-Big Ten freshman team a year ago.Â
The Buckeyes will have one more tune up, a home exhibition vs. Dayton at 7 p.m. Saturday, before opening the season officially Aug. 24 vs. UC Davis (7 p.m.) in the annual Wolstein Classic in Columbus.Â
Admission and parking are free for all Ohio State regular-season home matches.Â
