
Buckeyes Finish Strong at TYR Pro Championships

IRVINE, Calif. – Ohio State turned in more strong performances to wrap up the TYR Pro Championships in Irvine on Saturday, including the third broken relay record of the week.
During time trials, the relay team of Daniel Baltes, Tristan Jankovics, Daniel Garcia, and Evan Fentress set a school record in the men's 200 medley relay with a time of 1:39.38.
Maya Geringer placed eighth in the women's 1500 free, turning in a time of 16:47.05. Gwen Woodbury placed ninth, touching the wall at 16:47.68. Mia Rankin finished 16th with a time of 17:18.76.
In the men's 1500 free, Mason Edmund and Alex Axon placed fifth and sixth, respectively. Edmund finished in 15:20.18 and Axon finished in 15:35.89. Alex Metzler (16:00.86) placed 21st and Sam Campbell (16:05.24) finished 23rd.
Morgan Karus finished fourth in the B final of the women's 200 back; she swam the event in 2:15.34. Paige Hall placed seventh in the B final with a time of 2:17.14.
Tristan Jankovics earned a sixth-place finish in the men's 200 back A final. Jankovics turned in a time of 2:01.57.
In the women's 100 free, Katherine Zenick (55.53) finished eighth in the A final.
Josephine Panitz placed sixth in the women's 200 breast A final with a time of 2:31.61. Hannah Bach finished seventh in the B final with a time of 2:41.51.
Alyssa Graves' personal-best time of 2:11.31 earned her a fourth-place finish in the women's 200 fly A final. In the B final, Kyra Sommerstad placed fourth with a time of 2:14.11 and Lucy Malys finished seventh with a time of 2:15.48.
In the men's 200 fly, Caleb Ellis placed sixth in the C final with a time of 2:02.62.
The Buckeyes finished fifth in the women's 400 free relay with the team of Hall, Zenick, Tristan Harrison, and Nyah Funderburke swimming the relay in 3:47.45. Ohio State also raced a B squad comprised of Kraus, Woodbury, Miriam Guevara, and Panitz; they placed eighth with a time of 3:57.63.
In the men's 400 free relay, the team of Baltes, Mario McDonald, Jean-Pierre Khouzam and Fentress finished fifth with a time of 3:22.16. The B team of Garcia, Pete Krusinski, Axon, and Jankovics placed ninth with a time of 3:25.94.
