
Ohio State Sets Relay Record on Night Two of TYR Pro Championships

IRVINE, Calif. – Ohio State set a program record in the women's 400 medley relay on the second night of the TYR Pro Championships on Thursday. The relay team of Amy Fulmer, Hannah Bach, Morgan Kraus and Katherine Zenick finished in 4:05.84, shaving almost two full seconds off the previous record of 4:07.41 set in 2021.
Maya Geringer won the C final of the women's 400 free with a time of 4:15.93. It is her personal best time.
In the B final of the men's 400 free, Alex Axon and Mason Edmund placed third and fourth, respectively. Axon turned in a time of 3:51.16, which is his personal-best, and Edmund finished in a personal-best 3:54.18.
Paige Hall finished sixth in the B final of the 200 IM with a time of 2:18.23 and Josephine Panitz placed seventh with a time of 2:18.53.
Tristan Jankovics swam in the A final of the men's 200 IM, touching the wall at 2:01.05 to place eighth. He set a program record during prelims with a time of 2:00.58, which is also a personal-best time, beating his previous best time of 2:02.96 which he set less than two weeks ago at Speedo Sectionals in Columbus. Daniel Garcia, making his debut with the Buckeyes this week, finished seventh in the C final with a time of 2:04.01.
In the A final of the 50 free, Fulmer earned a fifth-place finish with a time of 25.19. Zenick took second place in the B final with a personal-best time of 25.49.
In the men's 50 free, Daniel Baltes finished fifth in the B final; he turned in a time of 22.61. Mario McDonald (22.73) placed fourth in the C final.
The Buckeyes also swam a B team in the women's 400 medley relay. The relay team consisting of Nyah Funderburke, Panitz, Miriam Guevara and Hall turned in a time of 4:08.95 to earn fourth place.
The Ohio State A relay team of Jankovics, Garcia, Evan Fentress and Baltes placed fourth in the men's 400 medley relay with a time of 3:41.97. The B team of Eli Stoll, Karl Helmuth, Jean-Pierre Khouzam and McDonald placed eighth with a time of 3:45.11.
The TYR Pro Championships continue Friday, July 28 through Saturday, July 29. Prelims begin at 12:00 p.m. ET each day with finals to follow at 8:00 p.m. ET.
