
Armstrong Secures Spot on World Championship Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On the fourth day of the Phillips 66 National Championships, Hunter Armstrong became the national champion in the 100 back, finishing in 52.33. He edged four-time Olympic gold medalist Ryan Murphy, touching the wall .06 seconds faster. Armstrong's first-place finish earns him a spot on the Team USA roster for the World Championships in Japan.
Charlie Clark won the B final of the 400 free with a time of 3:49.54, which is just .18 seconds shy of the program record of 3:49.36 he set in 2022.
Hannah Bach placed seventh in the A final of the 100 breast, finishing in 1:08.18. Josie Panitz took third in the C final of the 100 breast; she turned in a time of 1:09.19.
Amy Fulmer earned a sixth-place finish in the 100 back B final with a time of 1:00.43. In the 100 back C final, Nyah Funderburke finished second with a personal-best time of 1:01.44.
The Phillips 66 National Championships conclude on Saturday, July 1. Prelims will start at 10:00 a.m., with finals to follow later at 7:00 p.m. Fans can stream prelims and final live via the USA Swimming website and can also view finals on Peacock.
