COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ellen Ford, a two-time All-State forward and prolific goal scorer at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Md., signed a National Letter of Intent with Ohio State last November and will soon begin her athletic and academic career with the Buckeyes.
Ford, who played just three seasons of high school field hockey due to the COVID-19 pandemic, collected 66 goals and 42 assists in her career with the Vikings. The leading scorer in Montgomery County the last two seasons, Ford twice was a member of the Washington Post All-Met team.
At the club level, Ford played for the Warhawks where she helped her team qualify for U19 nationals. She has plans to work on a master’s degree following graduation and lists winning a regional championship during her junior year as her greatest sports thrill. It marked the first time in 20 years that Walt Whitman had advanced to the state semifinals.
