Weekly highlight of the student-athletes behind the major moments in Ohio State Athletics
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Week in and week out, Buckeye student-athletes raise the standard of excellence set at Ohio State, whether that be in competition, in the classroom, or in the community. ‘Buckeye Spotlight’ recognizes student-athletes who had noteworthy accomplishments both in contests and beyond the box score.
Here are this week’s Buckeye Spotlight student-athletes and teams:

Baseball Team
- The Ohio State baseball team closed out the 2023 season with a three-game sweep against Michigan, outscoring the Wolverines, 23-10. It was Ohio State’s first sweep of the Wolverines since the 2016 season.
- The sweep extended the Buckeyes’ win streak to nine straight games, which is their longest win streak since 2009, when they also won nine consecutive games.
- The Buckeyes finished the season with an overall record of 31-25; it is the first time the team has won more than 30 regular-season games since 2019.
- Prior to the team’s final game of the season on Saturday, they honored the class of 2023; Joey Aden, Marcus Ernst, Justin Eckhardt, Nick Erwin, Cole Andrews, Wyatt Loncar, Nolan Clegg, Caden Kaiser, Jonah Jenkins, Will Pfennig, Blayne Robinson and Jameson Campbell.

Alexander Bernard | Men’s Tennis | Fr. | Naples, Fla.
- Alexander Bernard was key during the Buckeyes’ run to the NCAA Championship match, providing the clinching point in both the quarterfinals and semifinals matches.
- He is one win away from becoming an All-American in his freshman season and has a singles record of 23-4 on the year.
- Overall, Bernard was 4-1 in the NCAA Tournament.

Nick Boykin | Wrestling | R-Sr. | Murfreesboro, Tennessee
- Nick Boykin claimed third in the 97kg Greco Roman bracket at the 2023 World Team Trials over the weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo.
- That effort followed a second-place finish at the 2023 US Open held in Las Vegas in April.

Nikki Dzurko & Ruby Remati | Synchronized Swimming
- Nikki Dzurko and Ruby Remati were named to the USA Artistic Swimming Senior National Team after a week-long trials process in Los Angeles last week.
- The Buckeyes join the 12-person roster that will represent the United States at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan and the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.
- Both Dzurko and Remati have previous USA Artistic Swimming experience, with Remati most recently earning a spot as an alternate for the 2020 Olympics in duet and Dzurko last training with Team USA for the 2020-21 season ahead of the Olympics.
