
James Trotter Named B1G Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State senior James Trotter led the Buckeyes to a pair of sweeps over ranked opponents last weekend and has been named the Big Ten Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week.
The Buckeyes beat No. 23 Texas A&M 7-0 on Friday night and then blitzed No. 6 Texas 4-0 on Sunday. Trotter went a combined 4-0 with all four wins coming over ranked opponents. In his singles matches, he rolled past No. 43 Trey Hilderbrand of Texas A&M 6-1, 6-2 and then beat No. 13 Siem Woldeab of Texas 6-1, 6-4. In doubles, he teamed with Andrew Lutschaunig at the No. 1 spot to beat the No. 33 ranked team of Hilderbrand and Noah Schachter 6-4 and then the No. 7 ranked team of Cleeve Harper and Eliot Spizzirri of Texas 6-3.
This was the first Big Ten Athlete of the Week honor for Trotter. He is 8-0 in singles matches this season and 3-1 in doubles.
The updated ITA rankings came out on Wednesday and the Buckeyes have ascended to the No. 1 team in the country. Trotter is ranked No. 28 in singles and he and Lutschaunig are ranked No. 25 in doubles.
This week, the Buckeyes hit the road for the first time this season to face No. 9 Wake Forest on Thursday evening and No. 5 Virginia on Saturday afternoon.
