No. 1 Buckeyes Sweep No. 22 UCLA, Reach 20 Wins on the Season

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 1 Ohio State defeated No. 22 UCLA 4-0 Friday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center, it was the Buckeyes 12th ranked victory of the season.
The match marked Ohio State's sixth away win of the season, the Buckeyes are 4-0 against Big Ten competition on the road. It was Ohio State's 12th sweep of the season and third away sweep.
Ohio State took the doubles point with victories on courts two and three. In singles, the Buckeyes clinched with two-set victories on courts one, five and six.
Ohio State improves to 20-3 on the season and 6-1 in the Big Ten, Aidan Kim led the Buckeyes with victories in both singles and doubles action.
The Buckeyes return home next weekend for two double headers. On Friday at 9:30 a.m., Ohio State faces Northern Kentucky University before playing Oregon later in the day at 6 p.m. The Buckeyes remain home and host Washington at noon on Sunday and Toledo at 4 p.m.

Aidan Kim and Bryce Nakashima got the Buckeyes out to a lead early, winning 6-2 and earning their third-consecutive Big Ten victory as a pair.

On court two, Alexander Bernard and Alex Okonkwo went up 3-0 before the Bruins battled back to make it 4-4, Bernard and Okonkwo won their serve and secured a breaker to clinch the doubles point for Ohio State.

Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin traded blows on court one and were leading on matchpoint 5-4 when the match was called.

The Buckeyes won first sets on courts one, two, four, five and six.

Aidan Kim earned a ranked win against Spencer Johnson on court one, winning 6-3, 6-1 to put Ohio State up 2-0.

On court five, Nikita Filin went 6-2, 6-3, earning his 10th-consecutive singles win and leaving the Buckeyes needing one more singles victory.

Bryce Nakashima quickly went ahead after grabbing a 6-1 first set win, to win the match for Ohio State, Nakashima came back from a 6-4 second set tiebreaker to win 7-6(6).

Jack Anthrop and Preston Stearns were up in the third set when the match was called. Alex Okonkwo was in a second set tiebreaker when Nakashima clinched the match.
