
Buckeyes Stomp Aggies, Climb to 8-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2-ranked Ohio State men’s tennis team dominated No. 23 Texas A&M 7-0 on Friday night. The match featured the largest and most lively crowd of the year at Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
The Buckeyes improve to 8-0 on the season and are now 11-8 all-time against Texas A&M, with a 7-0 mark against the Aggies in Columbus.
Andrew Lutschaunig, James Trotter, Justin Boulais and Robert Cash all claimed both a singles and doubles win on the night.
Doubles
- Buckeyes Lutschaunig and Trotter won their first match as a duo in a 6-4 victory after leading early in the match 4-2. Lutschaunig and Trotter defeated Aggies’ Trey Hilderbrand and Noah Schachter in only their second match as partners this year.
- Ohio State’s Justin Boulais and Robert Cash started off strong leading Texas A&M’s Giulio Perego and JC Roddick 5-2. The Aggies battled back only to come up short as Boulais and Cash secured the 7-5 victory. Boulais and Cash are now a team best 6-0 in dual matches.
- Both the Buckeye pair of Cannon Kingsley and JJ Tracy and Aggies Kenner Taylor/Pierce Rollins struggled to record a service break. The match was unfinished with the Buckeyes on serve trailing 5-6.
Singles
- Buckeyes Trotter and Cash didn’t need much time to earn victories, defeating Aggie foes Hilderbrand and Rollins, respectively. Trotter won 6-1, 6-2 and Cash followed shortly after with a 6-2, 6-2 win.
- Boulais had no trouble on court two, defeating Texas A&M’s Raphael Perot 6-4, 6-2 to clinch the team victory.
- Lutschaunig led Texas A&M’s Guido Marson 4-3 in the first set and then won eight of the last nine games to win 6-4, 6-0 on court six. Lutschaunig improves to 4-0 in dual singles matches this year.
- On court one, Kingsley fought out of a deep hole. He lost the first set 6-2 and after rallying to win the second 6-4, he fell being 5-0 in the super-breaker against Noah Schachter. Kingsley clawed back again and would win the breaker 10-8.
- JJ Tracy completed the sweep with a 7-6(1), 6-3 win on court three over Guilio Perego
