
Ohio State Third at Big Five Meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 13-ranked Ohio State women’s gymnastics team placed third in Saturday afternoon’s session of the Big Five meet in Lincoln, Nebraska with a team score of 196.750. Michigan State won the session with a score of 197.675 with the host Cornhuskers second at 196.925. Minnesota (195.800) and Rutgers (195.225) rounded out the team results.
Michigan State and Michigan are now tied for the Big Ten lead with 7-1 conference records. Iowa is in third with a 6-2-1 record and the Buckeyes are fourth at 6-3. The Big Ten championships are set for March 18 with an afternoon and evening session with the top four teams competing in the evening.
The top scoring individual performances for the Buckeyes on Saturday were third-place scores for Payton Harris on vault (9.950), and Elexis Edwards and Emma Hodges each tying for third on floor exercise with scores of 9.925. Sydney Jennings was fourth on balance beam (9.875) and Edwards was tied for fifth on the uneven bars (9.850).
Three career-highs were tied by Buckeyes at the meet: Payton Harris on vault (9.950), Ella Hodges on floor (9.925) and Tory Vetter on floor (9.875).

MEET NOTES
- Ohio State opened its rotations with a fine, 49.300 score on vault. Payton Harris soared to a career-high-tying score of 9.950, which was good for third-place. Raina Malas set a personal season high with a 9.875 score while Sydney Jennings followed with a 9.850 score.
- Rotation No. 2 featured the Buckeyes on the uneven bars and posting a score of 48.950. Elexis Edwards was the Buckeyes top scorer with a 9.850 score, which tied her for fifth-place, with Colby Miller and Nicole Riccardi right behind Edwards with scores of 9.800 each.
- Balance Beam was event No. 3 for Ohio State and the Buckeyes posted a score of 49.900 with Sydney Jennings leading the way with a 9.875 score that was good for fourth. Emma Pritchard (9.850) and Payton Harris (9.825) followed Jennings.
- Ella Hodges and Elexis Edwards led Ohio State on floor exercise, each scoring 9.925 scores to finish overall a tie for third, respectively. Ohio State’s 49.400 score included Hodges tying her career-high for the fourth time with her effort. Tory Vetter also had a career high-tying score on floor of 9.875, good for eighth. Clair Gagliardi scored 9.850 and Nicole Riccardi’s first floor exercise of the year earned her a score of 9.825.
- Payton Harris and Tory Vetter competed in the all-around, finishing with scores of 39.250 (sixth) and 38.925 (eighth), respectively.
