No. 19 Ohio State Wins B1G Dual vs. Illinois

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 19 Ohio State women's gymnastics team hosted its first Big Ten Conference dual meet Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Covelli Center against Illinois. The Buckeyes (2-1, 2-0 B1G) won the meet with a team score of 196.00. The Illini (2-3, 0-2 B1G) finished with an overall team score of 195.800.
Ohio State won team event titles on uneven bars (49.025) and floor (49.350) and tied Illinois on beam (49.100). The team's combined scores on bars and beam are season-bests.
Cameron Smith and Jaylyn Pomager opened the dual meet with 9.825s on vault to tie for first overall. Pomager's score was a career high and Kaitlyn Grimes added a season-best 9.800 on the apparatus. The Buckeyes finished the rotation with a score of 48.525.
On bars, Tory Vetter led the team with a 9.875, good for second overall. Pomager added another career-high performance with a score of 9.825 while Maisyn Rader made her season debut in the event with a score of 9.800.
Vetter earned the team's highest score on beam in the meet with a season-high 9.875 for second overall. Rylee Guevara tied her career high on the apparatus, scoring a 9.850 in the leadoff spot.
Ohio State earned the win in the final rotation of the day, led by event title winners Baylie Belman and JJ Coleman. The Buckeyes each scored a 9.900, Belman's first of her career in her collegiate debut. Coleman has now scored at least a 9.900 on floor in every meet for Ohio State this season. Guevara and Vetter also reached season-best marks on the event (9.850).
Vetter finished the day with a season-best 39.350 in the all-around.
