Buckeyes Win CCFC Men’s and Women’s Team Titles

COLUMBUS, Ohio – With undefeated records, the Ohio State men's and women's fencing programs won their second consecutive Central Collegiate Fencing Conference Championships Saturday in French Field House. The Buckeyes also claimed the men's and women's epee, men's and women's foil and women's sabre squad titles.
Sunday individual champions will be crowned. The women's event starts at 8 a.m., with the first round for the men beginning at 12:30. TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
The women were 6-0 on the day and clinched the team title with a 19-8 win over Northwestern in the final round. Both teams were undefeated heading into round seven. The Buckeyes were a perfect 6-0 in their sabre, foil and epee competitions throughout the day. Epee was 40-8 individually, with sabre 37-5 and foil 32-7.
Miranda Freedman led foil and the Buckeyes with 11 wins Saturday. Dasha Myroniuk picked up 10 wins in foil and Katherine Larimer had 10 victories in sabre to lead that squad. Three epeeists – Kelly Feng, Julia Semikin and Eva Mazur – had five wins to pace the group.
The men were 4-0 on the day and 23-1 in squad matchups. Epee was 28-8 overall, foil was 22-5 and sabre was 21-9.
Ilya Ayupov was first for the men overall and in foil with eight wins. Lorenzo Mion and Solin Li each picked up seven victories in foil. Stephen Chou notched seven wins to lead sabre. In epee, Matthew Bulau had a squad-best six wins, followed by Paul Veltrup with five.
