COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State heads out on a two-game road trip for a pair of rematches starting with Iowa on Thursday night in Iowa City. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. ET at Carver-Hawkeye Arena and the game will be televised on ESPN2. Kevin Brown and Robbie Hummel will call the action.
- The all-time series between the two teams is dead even at 83-83. The overall point margin is also close as the Buckeyes have outscored Iowa by just 32 points in the 166 meetings. Officially, taking into account vacated games, Iowa holds an 81-78 edge.
- In the first meeting this season with Iowa (which seems like a lifetime ago), Ice Likekele had his best game as a Buckeye, scoring 18, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out seven assists to lead Ohio State to a 93-77 victory on Jan. 21. Brice Sensabaugh also notched a season-high with 27 points on 10-of-12 shooting and 4-of-5 from long range.
- The previous game with Iowa was certainly a fun one for the Buckeyes as it was their last win. It also snapped Iowa’s four-game win streak.
- The Buckeyes are looking to sweep the season series with Iowa for the first time since 2018. They have also split their last four trips to Iowa City.
- Entering last weekend, Ohio State had relied on the most percentage of minutes by freshmen of any team in the Big Ten.
- The game on Sunday vs. Michigan State was a bit of a weird one. Outside of the final score, there were just three total free throws shot in the game. Dating back to the 2006-07 season, the fewest free throws Ohio State had attempted in a game prior to last Sunday was three.
- Point guard Bruce Thornton has averaged 14.3 points over the last three games while shooting 61.3 percent (19-of-31) from the floor. Thornton was recently named a team captain and is the only player on the team to have started all 25 games this season.
- Ice Likekele played extremely well in the first meeting with Iowa and is looking to rekindle that magic on Thursday night. He recently reached 500 career assists and is just the fourth active player with 1,000 points, 700 rebounds and 500 assists. He’s also the only one of the four to do it at a Power 5 school.
- Sean McNeil is just four three-pointers shy of 200 for his career.
