Buckeyes Fall to Aggies in ITA Indoors Quarterfinals

COLUMBUS, Ohio – In the quarterfinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, No. 6-seeded Ohio State women's tennis team fell to No. 3 seed Texas A&M, 4-0, Saturday at the Seattle Tennis Club in Seattle. The Buckeyes will close out the weekend with a consolation match at 9:30 p.m. ET Sunday, against Michigan or North Carolina. The loss was the first for the Buckeyes this season, who fall to 6-1.
In Doubles
- The Aggies pulled away on courts one and two to clinch the doubles point.
- The tandem of Jayci Goldsmith and Salma Ewing defeated Buckeyes Akanksha Bhan and Isabelle Boulais, 6-3, on court two.
- On court one, the Buckeyes' No. 37-ranked Buckeye tandem of Irina Cantos Siemers and Sydni Ratliff fell to Carson Branstine and Mary Stoiana, 6-4.
- The Buckeye duo of Kolie Allen and Danielle Willson was up a break on court three, 5-4, when the match was abandoned.
In Singles
- Texas A&M won the first set on all six courts to take control.
- The Aggies took a 3-0 lead with wins on courts two and four. In a Top 25 matchup, No. 8 Mary Stoiana defeated No. 23 Irina Cantos Siemers, 6-1, 6-0, on court two.
- On court four, Kolie Allen fell to Mia Kupres, 6-2, 6-0,, on court four.
- The match was clinched on court one, where Carson Branstine was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over No. 17-ranked Sydni Ratliff.
- On court five, No. 105-ranked Shelly Berezynak dropped the first set against No. 59 Jayci Goldsmith but won the second, 6-3, and was leading 3-1 in the third.
- The matches on courts two and six were still in a second set when play was stopped.
- The losses were the first of the season for Allen (5-1) and Cantos Siemers (4-1).
