COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 12/11 Ohio State women's basketball team (7-1) hosts No. 25/RV Penn State (7-2) on Sunday with tip-off scheduled for 1 p.m. in the season's Big Ten opener. The game will be broadcast on B1G+ and 1460AM.
Sunday is alumni day. Former Ohio State women's basketball players will be recognized at the beginning of halftime and the alumni band will be playing. The Ohio State men's gymnastics team will be at various locations on the concourse when doors open to meet and greet with fans prior to the start of their season. There is a FREE post-game clinic for girls in grades 3-8 and boys in grades 3-6, which is open to the first 100 participants. Register by filling out this waiver.

- Ohio State holds a 7-1 record this season after an 85-45 win against Ohio on Tuesday at home. The OSU defense recorded a season-high 15 steals and forced 26 OU turnovers. The Buckeyes also totaled 46 rebounds, led by a season-high seven by both Cotie McMahon and Rebeka Mikulášiková.
- Emma Shumate led the Buckeyes' offense with a career-high 22 points on six made three-pointers. Taylor Thierry (15), McMahon (14) and Mikulášiková (13) also scored in double figures. Kaia Henderson had a career-high six points on a perfect field goal percentage (3-of-3). Celeste Taylor matched her season-high seven assists as Ohio State combined for 21.
- Taylor was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday. McMahon was named to the USBWA National Player of the Week starting five on Tuesday.
- No. 25/RV Penn State enters the weekend at 7-2 after falling to West Virginia on the road on Monday by an 83-65 margin. The Nittany Lions led after 10 minutes but could not overcome a slow second quarter despite shooting 47.3 percent from the floor and 43.8 percent from long range during the game.
- Penn State's only other loss was a 71-70 decision against No. 8/10 USC in the Bahamas. The Nittany Lions hold wins against Bucknell, Navy, Kansas, St. John's, Oklahoma State, Providence and Radford.
- Makenna Marisa (16.0) and Shay Ciezki (13.8) are averaging double figures to lead a Penn State offense that averaged 83.4 points per game. Leilani Kapinus leads PSU on the boards with 6.2 rpg.
- Ohio State trails 37-29 in the all-time series against Penn State. The teams are tied at 13 when facing each other in Columbus.
- Last season, the Buckeyes earned a 67-55 win in State College on Feb. 16, 2023. Ohio State led by five after the first quarter and 12 at the half before allowing only five points in the third quarter as Penn State shot just 11.8 percent from the floor in that quarter. OSU combined for 43 rebounds and 22 assists in the team effort.
- In that game, Ohio State had three in double figures, led by a double-double from Cotie McMahon (17p/11r/4a). Rikki Harris (15p/8r/7a) and Taylor Thierry (13p/7r/4a) completed the trio that led the Buckeyes.
