
#ProBucks Set to Begin 2023-24 NLL Season

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 2023-24 National Lacrosse League (NLL) season begins tonight, kicking off the year for 14 Buckeyes in the league. This season, Buckeyes are rostered on eight teams across the league.
Jason Knox makes his NLL debut this year with Panther City Lacrosse Club. Knox was picked by the team sixth overall in the 2022 NLL Entry Draft.
Five Buckeyes – Eric Fannell, Johnny Pearson, Austin Shanks, Ryan Terefenko and Jake Withers – take the field for the Halifax Thunderbirds in the first game of the 2023-24 season. Withers led the league in 2022-23 in loose balls (238) and faceoff win percentage (360/458 – 79%). Shanks averaged over four points per game when he was in the lineup. Terefenko was noted as a standout in training camp after posting seven goals, 21 points 186 loose balls and 14 caused turnovers in 2023.
Also facing off on the opening day of the season is Jackson Reid and the Albany Firewolves. Reid enters his second season with the Firewolves after playing seven games and recording two goals, six assists, 30 loose balls and five caused turnovers last year.
Opening weekend for the #ProBucks continues Saturday when the Calgary Roughnecks and Rochester Knighthawks face off. Justin Inacio, Jesse King and Logan Schuss are on the Roughnecks' roster and Turner Evans plays for the Knighthawks. King, entering his sixth season with Calgary, will captain the Roughnecks again this season. He led the team with 100 points and 42 goals during the regular season last year.
Tre Leclaire and the San Diego Seals kick off their season next weekend. In 17 games last season for the Seals, who led the West division last season with a 14-4 record, Leclaire tallied 10 goals and nine assists while causing 22 turnovers and picking up 96 loose balls.
Jeff Henrick is set to begin his third season with the Georgia Swarm when the team opens its season next week against the Colorado Mammoth.
Jack Jasinski was signed from open tryouts in October by the Philadelphia Wings.
Earlier this fall, Marcus Hudgins was drafted in the 2023 NLL Entry Draft. He was selected by the San Diego Seals with the eighth pick of the final round.
