Buckeye Men and Women 4-1 to Open Western Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Both the Ohio State men and women's fencing squads were 4-1 on day one of the Western Invitational hosted by Air Force in Colorado Springs.

Both squads downed Incarnate Word, Brandeis and UCSD. The men defeated Harvard but fell to Columbia, while the women downed the Lions Columbia but lost to the Crimson.

The Buckeye women's foil squad was a perfect 5-0 on the day. Men's saber and epee and women's sabre were 4-1, with men's foil 3-2 and women's epee 2-3.

The Western Invitational continues Sunday, when Ohio State will face Stanford, Air Force and North Carolina (men only).
