How The Goals Were Scored
- Northwestern had the first goal of the game in the third quarter in the 41st minute off the direct penalty corner opportunity.
- The Wildcats capitalized on another penalty corner chance just 39 seconds later, getting the deflection on the initial shot to earn the goal.
- Northwestern added a goal before the conclusion of the third quarter, converting with less than 30 seconds remaining.
- Hallie Brost got Ohio State on the board with her fourth goal of the season in the fourth quarter following a move in front of the cage and a pass from Makenna Webster.
- Entering the day, Ohio State's 14 wins were the most it has had in a season since winning 18 during the 2010 campaign that ended in the NCAA Final Four.
- With two goals in the quarterfinal round win over Penn State, Makenna Webster is just two away from entering the top 10 in single-season history. Danielle Dayton scored 19 during the 1991 season and holds the No. 10 spot.
- Brenna Bough's 26 points are the most by an Ohio State freshman since Mackenzie Allessie had 37 during her rookie campaign in 2019. In 2014, Maddy Humphrey finished with 32 points.
- Northwestern is the ninth ranked team that Ohio State has played this year. Entering the day, the Buckeyes were 3-5 in those contests with wins over No. 1 Iowa, No. 8 Michigan and No. 14 Penn State.
Ohio State will now await word on the NCAA Tournament, which begins next weekend at campus sites. The NCAA Selection Show is slated for Sunday night at 10 p.m. ET.
