COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State (3-5-5, 1-3-1) battled back for the second-consecutive match but Indiana (6-3-4, 2-1-2) scored late for a 2-1 win at Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington Sunday.
The Hoosiers scored on a penalty kick in the first half before the Buckeyes tied it late in the second. Indiana came right back with the game-winner in the 82'.
Ohio State scored twice over the final 10 minutes at Louisville in a 2-all draw last Tuesday.
How it Happened
The Hoosiers got on the board first in the 16' on a penalty kick goal by Joey Maher. Indiana got the chance after Ohio State defender Siggi Magnusson was called for a foul just right of the Ohio State goal. The play was reviewed but the call stood.
There were not many chances in the first half with the Hoosiers owning a 5-2 edge in shots and a 3-0 advantage in corners.
Deylen Vellios scored the first goal of his career unassisted in the 66' to tie it at 1-all. He took the shot from outside the box just left of center. It went high to the right of the IU goal to knot up the match.
Indiana came right back to retake the lead on a score by Karsen Henderlong in the 82'. Joey Maher and Samuel Sarver assisted on the game-winning score.
