
Buckeyes Blast Boilermakers 41-7

Ohio State raced to a 34-0 lead and downed Purdue on Saturday 41-7 at a rainy Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Ind.
The Buckeye offense started fast, scoring touchdowns on three of its first four possessions. Quarterback Kyle McCord finished the day 16-of-28 for 276 yards and three touchdowns. Devin Brown came off the bench and recorded both a rushing and passing touchdown.
Marvin Harrison Jr. recorded his fourth 100-yard receiving game of the season, finishing with 105 yards on six catches and a touchdown. He opened the scoring with a nice grab on a 14-yard touchdown reception at the 9:11 mark of the first quarter.
Tight end Cade Stover hauled-in four passes, including a pair of touchdowns receptions, and is now sixth all-time in program history among tight ends with 841 career receiving yards. This was his third game with multiple touchdown receptions.
Running back Dallen Hayden took over for an injured Chip Trayanum and had 76 yards on 11 carries and a score.
The Buckeye defense limited Purdue to just 257 total yards and Purdue’s lone touchdown didn’t come until the game was decided in the fourth quarter.
First Quarter
Ohio State and Purdue are playing on a gray, mild day in West Lafayette, Ind. The Buckeyes lead, 13-0, after the first quarter with touchdowns scored by Marvin Harrison Jr. and back-up quarterback Devin Brown.
Harrison Jr. had three receptions for 63 yards on Ohio State’s first possession, including a 14-yard TD reception for Ohio State’s first touchdown. Brown, the red-shirt freshman, came in at the end of the second drive to register a first down rushing on his first carry and then scored from the 2 two plays later.
Purdue marched into Ohio State territory on its first possession that ended with a missed, 48-yard field goal. Ohio State’s defense then held for consecutive three-and-outs.

Halftime
Ohio State leads Purdue, 20-0, at halftime in a game dominated by the Buckeyes. After leading 13-0 after the first quarter, Ohio State added a third score in the second, a four-yard pass play from Kyle McCord to Cade Stover.
Purdue, after three consecutive three-and-outs and another six-play drive that ended in a punt, finally pieced together a drive down to the Ohio State 1, but it could not score. A holding penalty followed by a Denzel Burke pass break-up and a sack by JT Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer left the Boilermakers with a 39-yard field goal attempt. The ball hit the right upright and Ohio State went into the half up, 20-0.
Ohio State has 269 total yards to 120 for Purdue. Kyle McCord is 9-of-18 passing for 133 yards while Dallan Hayden and Xavier Johnson have the bulk of Ohio State’s 136 rushing yards with 43 and 39, respectively. Starting RB Chip Trayanum left the game in the first quarter after a hard tackle.
Marvin Harrison Jr. has five receptions for 89 yards while Cade Stover has three for 39. Both players have scored touchdowns.

Third Quarter
Dallan Hayden powered in from the 1 early in the third quarter to increase Ohio State’s lead to 27-0. Cade Stover added his second touchdown of the day, from 14 yards out from Kyle McCord, and Ohio State leads, 34-0, after three quarters.
Hayden continued his fine running in place of Chip Trayanum and by quarter’s end he had gained 67 yards on nine carries. Both totals were season highs as Hayden played for the first time since getting in on three plays in the opener at Indiana.
Purdue did miss it’s third field goal of the game in the quarter: a 27-yarder after missing one from 39 yards in the second quarter and one from 58 yards in the first quarter.
