COLUMBUS, Ohio-Ohio State will enter the second round of the 2022 Big Ten Women’s Golf Championships Saturday tied for the No. 6 spot after shooting 289 (+5) Friday at the Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh.
Faith Choi led Ohio State with an even-par 71 while both Jillian Bourdage and Lauren Peter fired 1-over 72s. Choi is tied for ninth in the individual standings while Bourdage and Peter are tied for 16th after 18 holes.
Michigan State leads after 18 holes at 2-under 282. Individually, Michaela Vavrova of Nebraska and Leila Raines of Michigan State sit atop the individual leaderboard after an opening round 68s (-3).
Ohio State is chasing its 19th conference title at the 40th Big Ten Women’s Golf Championships.
The Buckeyes won three team titles (1979-80-81) before the Big Ten began officially recognizing championships in 1982. Since 1983, Ohio State has claimed the conference title 15 times (1983-84-85-88-93-97-99-2002-03-04-05-14(co)-15(co)-16(co)-19).
Ohio State individuals have earned medalist honor 15 times. Niki Schroeder (c0) was the last to do so in 2019.
